Product Overview
The Bakers Trousers are a meticulously designed garment tailored specifically for the rigours of the food production and catering sectors. Prioritising both wearer comfort and stringent hygiene standards, these trousers feature a fully elasticated waistband complemented by a drawcord for a secure, adjustable fit. By eliminating external pockets, the design addresses the dual concerns of contamination and safety, ensuring no loose items or debris can be trapped or introduced into a food-safe environment. These trousers are engineered to remain practical and reliable throughout even the longest shifts in demanding professional kitchens.
Key Features
- The fully elasticated waist with an integrated drawcord allows for a customisable fit that accommodates movement, ensuring comfort during repetitive tasks.
- A pocket-free design ensures the garment is entirely food-safe, preventing the accumulation of bacteria or the accidental carriage of foreign objects into sensitive areas.
- Constructed for industrial laundering, these trousers are built to withstand frequent, high-temperature cleaning cycles without losing their shape or durability.
- The lightweight fabric choice ensures the wearer remains cool, which is essential when working near ovens or in high-temperature production environments.
Design & Performance
The performance of these trousers is rooted in the quality of the Kingsmill Polycotton fabric. Comprising 65% polyester and 35% cotton, this material provides a balanced combination of synthetic resilience and natural breathability. The fabric is fully pre-shrunk, meaning the trousers will maintain their original fit and proportions even after repeated exposure to the heat of industrial washing.
Furthermore, the material boasts superior dye retention. This ensures that the professional black finish remains deep and consistent, preventing the faded appearance that can occur with inferior fabrics. The result is a lightweight garment that feels substantial enough for daily duty while offering the agility required for busy food-service roles. Every seam is designed to offer maximum comfort against the skin, reducing the risk of irritation during active use.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
To enhance your business’s branding and professional presence, these trousers are suitable for both print and embroidery. Embroidery is a superior choice for adding a formal finish, such as a company logo or employee name, providing a textured, high-quality look that withstands the rigours of frequent washing. Alternatively, print is an excellent option for bold, high-impact branding that needs to be clearly visible across a large team.
Our in-house team at our Telford facility has been perfecting garment customisation since 1976. Every piece is handled with the expertise required to ensure your branding is executed with precision, maintaining the professional appearance of your workforce and ensuring the longevity of the customisation itself.
Use Cases
These trousers are specifically engineered for the food industry and catering professions. They are the primary choice for professional bakers and butchers who require a clean, compliant uniform that meets safety standards. They are equally suited for large-scale food production facilities, commercial kitchens, and any environment where hygiene and food safety are the absolute priorities.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, please note that the elasticated waist offers a degree of flexibility, making them a versatile choice for different body types. If you find yourself between sizes, the drawcord allows for a more secure, tailored fit. As these are lightweight trousers, they can be comfortably layered over thermal base layers if your role requires working in cold storage or refrigerated production areas.
Caring for your product
To maintain the hygiene standards and appearance of these trousers, we recommend a maximum wash temperature of 60°C. This temperature is sufficient to remove grease and food-based contaminants while preserving the integrity of the polyester-cotton fibres. Failure to wash at appropriate temperatures may allow bacteria to persist.
Avoid the use of bleach, as this will degrade the fabric strength and cause significant discolouration of the black dye. Tumble drying should be performed on a low setting to prevent excessive heat stress on the elasticated components, which could otherwise lead to a loss of elasticity over time.
If ironing is required to maintain a crisp appearance, use a maximum temperature of 150°C. Professional dry cleaning is also an option using Tetrachloroethene for deeper cleaning requirements. Following these instructions ensures your garment remains fit for purpose for its maximum lifespan.
