Product Overview
The Shetland Bodywarmer is a quintessential piece of all-weather workwear, designed to provide core warmth while maintaining the freedom of movement required for active manual roles. Constructed from a dependable polyester and cotton twill blend, this garment is engineered to withstand the rigours of a busy working environment without sacrificing comfort. The Bottle Green finish offers a professional, subdued aesthetic that serves as an excellent backdrop for company branding.
Beyond its insulating properties, this bodywarmer is built for practicality. It integrates the traditional characteristics of a classic gilet with an enhanced pocket configuration, ensuring that essential tools and personal devices are always within reach. The inclusion of a dedicated mobile phone pocket and a secured internal zip pocket demonstrates a thoughtful approach to modern workplace requirements.
Key Features
- Strategic Pocket Configuration: Multiple external pockets provide ample storage for small tools and fasteners, reducing time spent searching for equipment.
- Dedicated Mobile Phone Pocket: A specifically sized compartment ensures your device is stored safely and is easily accessible throughout the working day.
- Internal Zip Fastening Pocket: Provides a secure location for sensitive items such as wallets or identification cards, protecting them from falling out during physical activity.
- Classic Tartan Lining: The internal cotton lining provides a traditional finish and an extra layer of soft-touch comfort against the body.
- Polyester Filling: A substantial synthetic insulation layer traps heat effectively around the torso, helping to maintain body temperature in cooler conditions.
Design & Performance
The shell of the Shetland Bodywarmer is crafted from a durable blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton twill. This specific composition is chosen for its resilience; the polyester provides essential hard-wearing properties and crease resistance, while the cotton allows for a degree of breathability. The twill weave further enhances the fabric's strength, making it less prone to tearing when snagged on-site.
Internally, the garment features a 100% cotton tartan lining. This choice is more than just a nod to classic design; cotton is naturally breathable and comfortable for long-term wear. The filling is a mid-weight polyester that provides warmth without the restrictive bulk often found in heavier winter coats, allowing for a full range of arm movement—an essential factor for tradespeople working in confined spaces or overhead.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The flat twill surface and substantial construction of the Shetland Bodywarmer make it an ideal candidate for customisation. For those seeking a professional and permanent finish, we recommend embroidery. Our Telford-based team uses high-precision machinery to stitch logos and staff names directly into the fabric, creating a durable result that withstands frequent laundering.
Alternatively, heat-applied print is an excellent option for businesses requiring large, bold branding on the back of the garment. This method ensures high visibility for your company name from a distance. Since 1976, MyWorkwear has been refining these processes in-house, ensuring that every garment leaving our facility meets our rigorous quality standards.
Use Cases
This bodywarmer is highly versatile, making it suitable for a wide range of industries. It is particularly effective for warehouse staff who transition between indoor and outdoor environments, and for tradespeople such as electricians or carpenters who require core warmth while maintaining manual dexterity. It also serves as an excellent uniform piece for logistics and delivery drivers who need to stay warm while frequently entering and exiting vehicles.

Practical Advice
The Shetland Bodywarmer is designed with a regular fit to allow for layering. To maximise thermal efficiency, we recommend wearing it over a medium-weight sweatshirt or flannel shirt. If you intend to wear it over very thick knitwear or a secondary jacket, you may wish to consider how the fit will feel across the chest and shoulders to ensure you retain full mobility.
Caring for your product
To maintain the performance and professional appearance of your bodywarmer, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Washing at higher temperatures may compromise the integrity of the polyester-cotton blend and can lead to premature fading of the Bottle Green colour.
Do not use bleach, as this will damage the fabric fibres and ruin any custom print or embroidery. The garment should not be tumble dried; instead, we recommend drip line drying. Excessive heat from a tumble dryer can cause the polyester filling to clump and may distort the shape of the shell fabric.
If ironing is required, use a cool setting with a maximum temperature of 110°C. Avoid ironing directly over any printed logos to prevent the design from lifting or melting. Finally, do not dry clean this garment, as the harsh chemicals used in the process can degrade the synthetic filling and the adhesive used in printed branding.
