Product Overview
The Orkney Insulated Coverall is a meticulously engineered piece of protective equipment designed to combat the most demanding winter environments. Built upon a foundation of high-performance Kingsmill fabric and reinforced with a thermal polyester wadding, this garment is specifically designed for professionals who cannot afford to let sub-zero temperatures dictate their productivity. It provides a comprehensive barrier against the elements while maintaining the ease of movement required for technical work.
Key Features
- Kingsmill Polycotton Fabric: The outer shell utilizes a blend of polyester and cotton to provide an exceptional balance of comfort and abrasion resistance, ensuring the garment survives the rigours of a busy site.
- Thermal Polyester Wadding: The internal lining is quilted with polyester wadding to trap heat effectively, providing essential warmth in freezing conditions.
- Pre-shrunk Construction: The fabric is fully pre-shrunk during the manufacturing process, meaning you won't find your sleeves or legs significantly shorter after the first few washes.
- Superior Dye Retention: This ensures the professional navy finish remains deep and consistent over time, even with regular industrial-level laundering.
- EN 342 Certified: This certification confirms the garment’s effectiveness as thermal protection against cold, providing peace of mind for health and safety compliance.
Design & Performance
At the heart of this coverall is the Kingsmill Polycotton shell, a medium-weight fabric that offers the breathability of cotton with the hard-wearing nature of polyester. The interior features a substantial polyester wadding that acts as an efficient insulator, creating a micro-climate around the body without the bulk that often hinders movement in lesser cold-weather garments.
Durability is built into the design, from the choice of fabric to the construction methods. The material is designed to resist the common snags and tears found in construction and maintenance environments, while the dye retention properties ensure that the garment continues to represent your business professionally long after it has been put into service.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Orkney Insulated Coverall is an excellent canvas for your company branding. Given the substantial nature of the fabric and the internal wadding, embroidery is the preferred choice for a professional finish. Our in-house team uses high-tensile threads to ensure your logo or staff names remain intact throughout the life of the garment.
For larger, more prominent branding across the back, high-quality heat-seal printing is available. This is particularly effective for bold designs that need to be visible from a distance. Since 1976, MyWorkwear has been refining these customisation techniques at our Telford-based facility, ensuring every garment that leaves our doors meets our exacting standards.
Use Cases
This coverall is the essential choice for tradespeople operating in unheated environments or outdoors during the winter months. It is particularly well-suited for:
- Construction workers and site managers.
- Tree surgeons and outdoor maintenance teams.
- Mechanics working in cold workshops or on roadside recoveries.
- Electricians and plumbers performing external installations.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, consider the layers you intend to wear beneath the coverall. While the wadding provides significant warmth, on exceptionally cold days you may wish to leave room for a thermal base layer. Ensure the leg length allows for full movement when crouching or climbing ladders to avoid unnecessary strain on the seams.
Caring for your product
To maintain the thermal performance and structural integrity of your coverall, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Washing at higher temperatures may degrade the polyester wadding and impact the garment's ability to retain heat.
Do not use bleach, as this will damage the fibres of the Kingsmill fabric and cause the navy colour to fade prematurely, compromising the professional appearance of your branding.
If tumble drying, use a low heat setting. High heat can cause synthetic fibres to become brittle or shrink. For the best results, we recommend drip line drying, which allows the garment to retain its shape and reduces the need for heavy ironing.
If ironing is required, use a maximum soleplate temperature of 150°C. Avoid direct contact with any printed areas to prevent damage to the customisation. Finally, do not dry clean this garment, as the chemical solvents used can strip the natural properties of the polycotton blend.
