Product Overview

The Anti-Static ESD Lab Jacket is a precision-engineered garment designed for technical environments where electrostatic discharge (ESD) presents a risk to sensitive components. This mid-weight jacket combines safety with daily practicality, ensuring that your team remains protected without sacrificing comfort. Constructed from a specialised blend of fibres, it serves as a reliable barrier in laboratories, clean rooms, and electronics manufacturing facilities.

Key Features

  • Concealed Stud Front: The hidden fastening prevents accidental contact between hardware and sensitive equipment, while providing a clean and professional appearance.
  • Three-Pocket Configuration: One chest pocket and two lower patch pockets offer ample storage for tools and personal items, keeping essential equipment within reach.
  • Adjustable Cuffs: These ensure a secure fit around the wrists, preventing loose fabric from snagging or interfering with delicate manual tasks.
  • Inherently Anti-Static: The protective properties are woven into the fabric itself, meaning the safety level does not diminish with repeated laundering.

Design & Performance

Performance is dictated by the sophisticated fabric composition of 65% polyester, 34% cotton, and 1% conductive fibre. The polyester provides the necessary durability to withstand the rigours of a technical workspace, while the cotton ensures the jacket remains breathable and comfortable for long shifts. The inclusion of conductive fibre creates a functional grid that safely dissipates static electricity. This substantial yet flexible fabric ensures the jacket maintains its shape and protective integrity over time, even in demanding industrial settings.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

While this is a technical safety garment, maintaining a professional brand identity is equally important. This jacket is suitable for both print and embroidery customisation. We recommend embroidery for company logos and staff names to achieve a superior, long-lasting finish that reflects the expertise of your business. For larger, more vibrant branding, our high-quality print process ensures your design remains sharp. Our in-house team in Telford, established in 1976, oversees every detail of the customisation process to ensure your branding meets our rigorous standards.

Use Cases

This jacket is specifically designed for professionals working in electronics assembly, telecommunications, and high-tech laboratory environments. It is an essential garment for anyone handling sensitive microchips, motherboards, or explosive materials where a single spark could be catastrophic. Its professional aesthetic also makes it ideal for site visits and client-facing technical roles.

Practical Advice

This jacket is designed with a generous fit to be worn comfortably over existing clothing. When selecting your size, consider the layers you typically wear underneath. For those between sizes, we generally recommend opting for the larger size to ensure full range of movement when reaching for equipment or working at a bench.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance and professional appearance of your ESD jacket, a consistent care routine is essential. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. This temperature is sufficient for thorough cleaning while ensuring the conductive fibres and your custom branding remain intact.

Do not use bleach under any circumstances. Bleaching agents will chemically degrade the 1% conductive fibre, effectively neutralising the jacket's anti-static properties and leaving your workspace at risk. Furthermore, harsh chemicals will rapidly fade the fabric colour and damage embroidered logos.

Line drying is the only recommended method for this garment. You must not tumble dry the jacket, as the intense, concentrated heat of a dryer can cause the polyester to shrink and may damage the delicate conductive grid. Ironing should be restricted to a maximum temperature of 150°C to remove creases without risking damage to the synthetic fibres.
