Product Overview

The 3000 Over-Trousers are a specialized piece of personal protective equipment designed to provide comprehensive protection for the lower body in hazardous thermal environments. Constructed from a high-performance blend of 60% DuPont™ Nomex® Fibre and 40% Lenzing FR Viscose, these trousers are part of the Flame Resistant Multi-Norm range. The design prioritises both safety and ergonomics, ensuring that the wearer remains protected without being restricted by the garment's protective layers.

Key Features

  • Integrated Non-Detachable Shoulder Braces: These ensure the trousers remain securely in position during strenuous activity, preventing gaps in protection between the jacket and trousers.
  • Low-Cut Crotch Seam: Specifically designed to offer high freedom of movement, allowing for easier climbing, kneeling, and crawling in emergency situations.
  • Side Elastication: Provides a comfortable and adaptive fit around the waist, accommodating different layering requirements beneath the over-trousers.
  • Bellow Front Fly: Offers a secure and practical opening that maintains the protective integrity of the garment while allowing for ease of use.

Design & Performance

The technical sophistication of the 3000 Over-Trousers lies in its multi-layered construction. The outer shell uses a substantial Nomex and Lenzing FR Viscose blend, known for its inherent flame-resistant properties. Beneath this, a moisture barrier consisting of an FR knitted fabric with a PU membrane provides a shield against liquid penetration while remaining breathable.

For thermal insulation, the garment features a dedicated FR non-woven thermal layer and an inner thermal layer of FR Aramid Viscose. Despite this complex multi-layer system, the garment is engineered to be as manageable as possible for the wearer. Meeting the EN 469 Level 2 standard, these trousers are verified for use in structural firefighting and environments where high levels of heat and flame protection are non-negotiable.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

To ensure your team is easily identifiable in the field, these over-trousers can be customised by our expert team in Telford. Embroidery is a preferred choice for adding professional identification such as names or company logos, providing a durable and high-quality finish that withstands the rigours of industrial use.

For larger, more prominent branding or safety markings, professional heat-applied printing is available. This method is excellent for bold designs that need to remain visible. Our in-house team, established in 1976, handles all customisation to ensure the protective properties of the fabric are respected during the branding process.

Use Cases

These trousers are primarily designed for firefighting professionals and industrial workers operating in environments with significant thermal risks. They are ideal for structural firefighting, technical rescue operations, and any scenario where EN 469 Level 2 protection is a mandatory safety requirement.

Practical Advice

As these are designed as over-trousers, we recommend considering the clothing you will be wearing underneath when selecting your size. The side elastication provides some flexibility, but ensuring a non-restrictive fit is vital for maintaining full mobility during critical tasks.

Caring for your product

Maintaining the integrity of flame-resistant fabrics is essential for ensuring the garment continues to provide the certified level of protection. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C using a normal process. Washing at higher temperatures or using aggressive cycles can prematurely degrade the fibres and the moisture barrier.

Do not use bleach under any circumstances. Bleaching agents can destroy the chemical structure of the flame-resistant fibres and compromise the safety performance of the trousers. If ironing is required, use a maximum sole-plate temperature of 150°C to avoid heat damage to the internal PU membrane.

For drying, you may tumble dry on a normal setting or line dry in the shade. Drying in direct sunlight for extended periods can lead to UV degradation of the technical fabrics. Professional dry cleaning using tetrachloroethene is also a safe option for removing industrial contaminants that might otherwise impair the fabric's performance.
