Product Overview

The Yoko Hi-vis waterproof overtrousers represent a practical solution for professionals who require high-visibility protection without sacrificing mobility. These trousers are engineered to be worn over standard work trousers, providing a robust barrier against foul weather while ensuring the wearer remains conspicuous in hazardous environments. Designed with durability in mind, they serve as a reliable outer layer for those working in sectors where safety standards are non-negotiable.

Key Features
  • Certified Safety Standards: Conforming to EN ISO20471 Class 1 and EN343, these trousers ensure you are visible in low-light conditions and fully protected against adverse weather.
  • Railway Industry Approved: Meeting RIS-3279-TOM standards, this garment is specifically approved for use within the UK railway industry, making it an essential requirement for trackside personnel.
  • Oxford PU Coating: The 100% waterproof polyester fabric is enhanced with an Oxford PU coating, which provides a high level of water resistance and prevents saturation during heavy downpours.
  • Adjustable Fit: Featuring snap buttons at the bottom of the legs, the trousers can be easily adjusted to fit securely over various types of footwear, preventing water ingress at the ankles.
  • Seam Integrity: Stitched and taped seams ensure that water cannot penetrate the joints of the garment, maintaining internal dryness in challenging conditions.

Design & Performance

Constructed from a lightweight yet durable polyester, these overtrousers are designed for ease of movement. The fabric is substantial enough to withstand the rigours of a construction or rail site while remaining light enough to prevent the wearer from feeling weighed down. The inclusion of two 5cm wide reflective bands around the lower legs ensures that visibility is maintained even when the wearer is in motion.

The elasticated waistband allows for a quick and secure fit over existing clothing, making these trousers easy to don or remove as the weather dictates. The Oxford weave provides a textured, hard-wearing finish that resists abrasions, extending the lifespan of the garment in industrial environments.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Despite their waterproof coating, these overtrousers are suitable for both print and embroidery customisation. Embroidery is an excellent choice for adding a professional touch, such as a company logo or employee name, providing a finish that stands up well to regular wear.

For larger, more prominent branding, heat-applied printing is a highly effective method. This allows for bold designs that remain visible even at a distance. Our experienced in-house team in Telford, who have been perfecting garment customisation since 1976, will ensure your branding is applied with precision to maintain the integrity of the waterproof fabric.

Use Cases

These overtrousers are primarily designed for those working in the railway industry, construction, and roadside maintenance. They are equally suited for any outdoor professional who needs to remain visible and dry while working in inclement weather. Given their lightweight nature, they are also a sensible addition to any vehicle emergency kit for drivers who may need to step out into high-traffic areas during rain or at night.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, remember that these are designed as overtrousers. They are sized to fit over your regular work trousers, so there is generally no need to size up. However, if you typically wear heavy-duty or bulky trousers underneath, checking the size guide to ensure a comfortable fit around the waist and hips is recommended.

Caring for your product

Maintaining the performance of high-visibility and waterproof clothing is vital for both safety and longevity. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Using a synthetic cycle will help preserve the structural integrity of the polyester and the PU coating.

Do not use biological powders or bleach, as these chemicals can degrade the reflective strips and the waterproof membrane, significantly reducing the garment's protective qualities. It is also important to avoid ironing or tumble drying, as excessive heat will damage the Oxford PU coating and may cause the reflective bands to peel.

Finally, please note that this garment has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles to ensure it continues to meet the necessary safety certifications. Over-washing or using harsh chemicals will shorten the life of the high-visibility elements, so follow these instructions carefully to ensure you remain seen and safe.
