Product Overview
The Yoko YK016 Flame-retardant Hi-Vis Sleeveless Waistcoat is an essential safety garment designed for professionals who require a combination of high visibility and protection against brief contact with sparks or small flames. This well-engineered waistcoat ensures you remain visible in low-light environments while providing a critical layer of flame-retardant treated fabric, meeting rigorous safety standards without adding unnecessary bulk to your work attire.
Key Features
- Certified Safety Standards: This garment conforms to EN14116 Index 1 for limited flame spread and EN ISO20471 Class 2 for high visibility, ensuring you meet onsite safety requirements.
- Flame-Retardant Treated Polyester: The fabric is specifically treated to protect the wearer from small sparks, reducing the risk of accidental burns during tasks like DIY or light industrial work.
- High-Visibility Reflective Tape: Features two bands and braces of reflective tape around the body and over the shoulders, providing maximum visibility from all angles.
- Secure Hook and Loop Fastening: The front closure allows for quick and easy removal, which is particularly useful in fast-paced work environments.
Design & Performance
Constructed from a lightweight polyester, this waistcoat is designed for ease of movement and breathability. The fabric is treated to provide limited flame spread qualities, making it a superior choice compared to standard high-visibility vests when working near ignition sources. It is important to note that this garment is intended to protect against occasional and brief contact with flames where no significant heat hazard is present.
The sleeveless design ensures that your arms remain free for intricate tasks, while the generous sizing range from S to 3XL ensures a professional fit for all team members. The inclusion of a sewn-in tag reflects the traditional manufacturing quality associated with the Yoko brand.

Use Cases
This waistcoat is ideally suited for workers in industries such as construction, rail, or utilities where high visibility is mandatory and there is a secondary risk of spark exposure. It is also an excellent choice for home DIY enthusiasts working with tools that may produce sparks. Due to its lightweight nature, it can be easily worn over other protective clothing.

Practical Advice
Safety is paramount when wearing flame-retardant garments. This waistcoat should never be worn directly against the skin. For full compliance and maximum protection, we recommend wearing it over EN14116 index 2 or 3 garments. When choosing your size, consider the layers you will be wearing underneath to ensure a comfortable fit that does not restrict movement.
Caring for your product
To maintain the safety performance and visibility of this waistcoat, it is vital to follow the care instructions precisely. A domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C on a synthetic cycle is recommended. Using biological powders should be avoided, as the enzymes can degrade the flame-retardant treatment over time.
Do not use bleach, as this will chemically damage the fabric and compromise its protective qualities. The garment should not be ironed, tumbled dried, or wrung out, as high heat and mechanical stress can damage the reflective tapes and the polyester base. We recommend a cold rinse and a short spin followed by line drying.
Please be aware that this garment has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles. Beyond this point, the flame-retardant properties and reflective efficiency may no longer meet the certified safety standards, and the waistcoat should be replaced to ensure continued protection.
