Product Overview
The Modaflame Knit FR Long Sleeve Polo Shirt is a meticulously engineered piece of safety equipment designed for professionals working in environments where flame resistance and visibility are paramount. This navy polo shirt offers a sophisticated alternative to standard high-visibility garments without compromising on technical protection. Constructed from a specialised modacrylic blend, it provides a comfortable, breathable fit that functions exceptionally well as a standalone piece in warmer conditions or as a high-performance base layer during colder months.
Key Features
- Inherent Flame Resistance: The modacrylic and carbon fibre blend provides permanent protection that will not diminish through repeated laundering, ensuring long-term safety on the job.
- Integrated Reflective Tape: Strategic placement of flame-resistant reflective tape increases your visibility in low-light environments, reducing the risk of accidents in busy workplaces.
- Anti-Static Properties: The inclusion of carbon fibre within the knit dissipates static electricity, which is critical for safety in environments where sparks could lead to catastrophe.
- Breathable Cotton Blend: By combining technical fibres with cotton, the garment allows for moisture management and skin comfort during long shifts.
Design & Performance
The technical sophistication of this polo shirt lies in its fabric composition: 60% modacrylic, 39% cotton, and 1% carbon fibre. This specific ratio creates a medium-weight fabric that feels substantial yet remains flexible. Unlike treated fabrics that lose their protective qualities over time, the fibres themselves are flame resistant by nature. The long-sleeve design provides full arm coverage, which is essential for protection against flash fires and heat transfer, while the ribbed cuffs ensure the sleeves stay securely in place during manual tasks.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
Despite its technical specifications, this polo shirt is an excellent candidate for corporate branding. We offer both embroidery and print services to ensure your team maintains a professional appearance. Embroidery is highly recommended for logos and staff names, as it provides a durable, high-quality finish that withstands the rigours of industrial work. For larger, more vibrant designs, our technical print processes are ideal. Every customisation is handled by our expert in-house team at our Telford facility, where we have been perfecting workwear since 1976.
Use Cases
This garment is specifically designed for professionals in the electrical, petro-chemical, and welding industries. It is particularly useful for those who require multi-norm protection and need to be seen clearly on-site. Its versatile weight makes it suitable for year-round use across various industrial settings.

Practical Advice
As this is a technical safety garment, we recommend ensuring a comfortable fit that allows for a full range of movement; the 4XL sizing provides ample room for those requiring a more generous cut. If using this as a layering piece, ensure that your outer garments are also flame resistant to maintain the integrity of your protective ensemble.
Caring for your product
To maintain the performance and safety certifications of this polo shirt, it is vital to follow the care instructions precisely. A domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a normal process is recommended. This helps to remove contaminants and oils that could otherwise compromise the flame-resistant properties of the fabric.
Do not use bleach under any circumstances. Bleaching agents can degrade the technical fibres and the reflective tape, significantly reducing the garment's protective capabilities and visibility. Similarly, this product should not be dry cleaned, as the chemicals used in the process can react poorly with the modacrylic blend.
For drying, we advise line drying rather than using a tumble dryer. Avoiding the high heat of a tumble dryer prevents unnecessary shrinkage and preserves the life of the reflective tape. If ironing is necessary, use a maximum temperature of 110°C to avoid scorching the synthetic fibres.
