Product Overview

The Modaflame Knit FR Leggings represent a critical component in any flame-resistant layering system. Designed specifically for professionals working in cooler conditions, these leggings balance thermal insulation with stringent safety standards. As part of the Flame Resistant Multi-Norm range, they provide a reliable foundation layer that prioritises both the wearer's protection and physical comfort during extended shifts in hazardous environments.

Key Features
  • Elasticated Waistband: Provides a secure fit that moves with the body, ensuring the leggings stay in place without restricting movement during physically demanding tasks.
  • Ribbed Hem Cuffs: These create a close seal at the ankles, which is essential for trapping warm air against the skin and preventing cold drafts from entering the garment.
  • Integrated Safety Fibres: The inclusion of Modacrylic and carbon fibre ensures permanent flame resistance and antistatic properties that will not diminish through repeated laundering.

Design & Performance

Constructed from a sophisticated Modaflame Knit fabric, these leggings feature a blend of 60% Modacrylic, 39% Cotton, and 1% Carbon Fibre. This composition is specifically engineered to offer the soft, breathable feel of cotton against the skin while maintaining the technical requirements of flame resistance. The carbon fibre content provides crucial antistatic protection, which is vital in volatile environments where spark prevention is a priority.

The knit construction is substantial enough to provide significant warmth in chilly environments without being excessively bulky. This ensures that the leggings can be worn comfortably under work trousers or flame-resistant coveralls without causing overheating or restricting the wearer's natural range of motion.

Why No Customisation?

These leggings are sold as a non-customised item to ensure the absolute integrity of their protective properties. As a base layer worn directly against the skin, any additional embroidery or heat-sealed transfers could potentially cause skin irritation or, more importantly, create a point of failure in the flame-resistant barrier. To maintain compliance with safety standards and ensure maximum wearer safety, we provide these as finished technical garments only.

Use Cases

These leggings are indispensable for workers in the petrochemical, utility, and electrical engineering sectors where flame-resistant and antistatic clothing is a mandatory requirement. They are particularly effective for outdoor site work during the colder months, providing the necessary thermal base to maintain focus and safety when the temperature drops.

Practical Advice

For the best performance, these leggings should be worn as your first layer, directly against the skin. This allows the fabric to manage moisture and trap heat most effectively. When selecting your size, ensure a snug fit that allows the ribbed cuffs to sit comfortably at the ankle, preventing any riding up when layered with socks and protective boots.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance characteristics of the Modaflame fabric, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Using a normal process ensures the removal of contaminants without subjecting the technical fibres to excessive heat, which can degrade the material and its protective qualities over time.

It is vital that you do not use bleach or any whitening agents, as these chemicals can strip the flame-resistant properties from the fibres and weaken the fabric structure. Similarly, these leggings should not be tumble dried; instead, they should be line dried to preserve their shape and the integrity of the elasticated waistband.

If ironing is necessary, use a cool setting with a maximum temperature of 110°C. Finally, do not dry clean this garment, as the industrial solvents used in that process are incompatible with the modacrylic and carbon fibre blend and may compromise the safety features of the leggings.
