Product Overview

The Howie Coat is a well-engineered garment designed to meet the rigorous demands of the food industry and professional laboratory environments. This medium-weight coat prioritises both hygiene and functionality, featuring a wrap-over front design that provides superior coverage compared to standard laboratory coats. The inclusion of the specialist Texpel finish ensures that the garment remains cleaner for longer, acting as a robust barrier against the daily hazards of liquids and debris.

Key Features

  • Texpel Water and Dirt Repellent Finish: This advanced coating ensures that water and soil simply bead up and roll off the fabric, preventing staining and maintaining a professional appearance throughout a long shift.
  • Knitted Cuffs: These provide a secure fit around the wrists, ensuring sleeves do not interfere with delicate tasks and offering an additional layer of protection against splashes.
  • Two Lower Extra Patch Pockets: Generous storage capacity for essential tools or personal items, positioned for easy access while working.
  • Left Chest Pocket: Ideally placed for quick access to pens or small instruments, keeping your most-used items within reach.

Design & Performance

Constructed from Kingsmill Polycotton, comprising 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton, this coat offers the perfect balance of durability and breathability. The polyester provides high-tenacity strength and crease resistance, while the cotton ensures comfort during extended wear in busy kitchens or laboratories. The fabric is substantial enough to withstand the friction of a technical work environment without feeling restrictive.

The Texpel finish is particularly beneficial in environments where cleanliness is paramount. By preventing liquids from soaking into the fibres, the garment remains lighter and more comfortable, and the white colour stays bright rather than dulling over time from absorbed spills.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

This Howie Coat is an excellent candidate for customisation, which we handle entirely in-house at our Telford facility. For a truly professional appearance that commands authority in a laboratory or catering setting, we recommend embroidery. It is the ideal choice for company logos or staff names, providing a durable, high-quality finish that withstands frequent industrial laundering.

If you require larger, high-impact branding across the back of the coat, our printing services offer sharp, vibrant results. Whether you choose print or embroidery, our team, with decades of experience since 1976, will ensure your branding is applied with technical precision.

Use Cases

This garment is specifically tailored for professionals within the food industry, including bakers, butchers, and catering staff. Its protective design also makes it a staple for those working in laboratory settings or pharmaceutical environments where a high level of hygiene and garment performance is required.

Why MyWorkwear

Since 1976, MyWorkwear has been providing high-quality uniform solutions from our base in Telford. We understand that workwear is more than just clothing; it is a tool for your trade. Our heritage in technical customisation ensures that every garment we produce meets the high standards our customers have come to expect over nearly half a century.

Practical Advice

The Howie Coat is designed with a regular fit to allow for ease of movement. When selecting your size, consider the layers you will be wearing underneath; if you frequently wear heavier knitwear or sweatshirts, you may wish to account for this to ensure full range of motion in the shoulders and arms.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance standards of this coat and preserve the Texpel finish, it is essential to follow the recommended care routine. Proper care ensures the garment continues to protect you and your branding remains intact.

We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. This temperature is sufficient to ensure industrial hygiene and remove stubborn contaminants without compromising the integrity of the Kingsmill fabric or the custom embroidery.

Do not use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will cause the fabric fibres to degrade prematurely and can lead to a yellowing of the white material, which undermines the professional aesthetic required in food and lab environments.

When ironing, set your appliance to a maximum temperature of 150°C. Regular ironing actually helps to reactivate the Texpel water-repellent finish after washing, ensuring the coat continues to perform as intended. Professional dry cleaning is also an option for this garment if a more intensive cleaning process is required.
