Product Overview
The Hi-Vis Winter Traffic Jacket is a technically advanced garment designed to provide maximum visibility and thermal protection in the most challenging environments. Certified to the rigorous Railway Industry Standard RIS 3279-TOM, this jacket is essential for professionals working on or near the UK rail network. It combines a robust outer shell with a substantial thermal filling to ensure the wearer remains warm, dry, and visible, regardless of the weather conditions.
Key Features
- RIS 3279-TOM Certification: This orange high-visibility garment meets specific safety requirements for the railway industry, ensuring compliance and safety on trackside projects.
- Waterproof Taped Seams: Every seam is meticulously taped to prevent water ingress, keeping you dry during prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
- Multiple Storage Pockets: Designed with functionality in mind, the jacket features various pockets to keep essential tools and personal items secure and accessible.
- EN342 Cold Protection: This jacket is tested for its ability to provide insulation against cold environments, making it a reliable choice for winter shifts.
- Stain-Resistant Finish: The outer fabric is treated to repel oil and dirt, maintaining the jacket's professional appearance and high-visibility performance over time.
Design & Performance
Engineered for durability, the jacket is constructed from 300D Oxford weave polyester. This fabric is exceptionally hard-wearing and resistant to abrasions, which is vital for the longevity of a garment in the construction and rail sectors. The double PU coating provides a secondary barrier against moisture while maintaining the fabric's integrity.
The interior features a medium-weight polyester lining and a substantial thermal filling. This combination traps heat efficiently without being overly bulky, allowing for ease of movement during physical tasks. The inclusion of a stain-resistant finish ensures that the bright orange hue remains effective, as dirt build-up can significantly reduce the reflective capabilities of hi-vis garments.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
Personalising your safety wear is a straightforward process at MyWorkwear. This jacket is suitable for both print and embroidery customisation, allowing you to maintain a professional corporate identity while meeting safety standards.
Embroidery is highly recommended for company logos or staff names, providing a durable and high-quality finish that withstands the rigours of daily work. For larger, more prominent branding on the back of the jacket, our high-definition printing services offer excellent visibility. All customisation is handled by our expert in-house team in Telford, where we have been perfecting our craft since 1976.
Use Cases
This jacket is specifically engineered for professionals in the railway industry, civil engineering, and traffic management. Its robust construction also makes it suitable for site managers and workers in the construction sector who require a higher level of thermal protection and visibility during the winter months.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, consider the layers you intend to wear underneath. As this is a winter jacket with a substantial thermal lining, it is designed to fit comfortably over standard workwear. If you are between sizes or prefer a very generous fit for heavy layering, you may wish to consider the larger option.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility performance and waterproof integrity of this jacket, it is essential to follow the care instructions carefully. Proper maintenance ensures the garment remains compliant with safety standards for its entire lifespan.
We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a mild process. Washing at higher temperatures or using aggressive cycles can damage the PU coating and reduce the effectiveness of the reflective tape. Do not use bleach, as this will chemically break down the fluorescent pigments and compromise the visibility of the orange fabric.
The jacket should not be tumble dried. Instead, it should be drip-lined dried to prevent heat damage to the synthetic fibres and waterproof seals. Similarly, do not iron this garment, as the heat from an iron will melt the polyester fabric and the double PU coating. Do not dry clean, as the solvents used in the process can strip away the protective finishes. Please note that this garment has a maximum limit of 50 washes; beyond this point, the reflective and fluorescent properties may no longer meet the required safety standards.
