Product Overview
The Scruffs Trade thermo jacket is a meticulously engineered hybrid garment designed for the modern professional who requires thermal efficiency without sacrificing mobility. This jacket combines the durability of hard-wearing nylon panels with the flexibility of softshell fabric, ensuring that you remain warm and agile on-site. It is a lightweight solution to the perennial problem of working in unpredictable climates, providing a streamlined fit that works as hard as you do.
Key Features
- Insatherm Core Padding: The central body sections are filled with Insatherm padding, which is specifically designed to trap and retain body heat where it is needed most, ensuring your core temperature remains stable.
- Flexible Softshell Components: The sleeves and side panels are constructed from a polyester and elastane blend, allowing for an unrestricted range of movement during overhead tasks or manual labour.
- Weather-Resistant Detailing: Elasticated bindings on the hood, hem, and cuffs create a reliable seal against the wind, preventing heat loss and keeping the elements at bay.
- Hard-Wearing Construction: The use of robust nylon fabric in high-wear areas ensures the jacket can withstand the rigours of a demanding work environment.
Design & Performance
This jacket is defined by its strategic use of materials. The primary fabric is a medium-weight blend of 96% polyester and 4% elastane, which provides the necessary stretch for a comfortable, active fit. The lightweight nature of the overall design ensures that it does not become a burden during long shifts, yet the Insatherm insulation provides a level of warmth usually reserved for much heavier outerwear.
Performance is further enhanced by the amfori BSCI certification, which signifies that this garment is produced under ethical and transparent manufacturing conditions. The combination of thermal padding and breathable softshell panels makes this an ideal choice for high-activity roles where temperature regulation is critical.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Scruffs Trade thermo jacket is an excellent canvas for your company branding. The smooth nylon chest panels are particularly well-suited for high-definition embroidery, providing a sophisticated and permanent finish for company logos or staff names. This creates a highly professional appearance that instils confidence in your clients.
For those requiring larger, more prominent branding, the fabric also accommodates precision printing. Our in-house team at our Telford facility has been perfecting these techniques since 1976, ensuring that every logo is applied with the technical expertise your brand deserves. Whether you choose the texture of embroidery or the boldness of a print, your workwear will be finished to the highest standard.
Use Cases
This jacket is ideally suited for tradespeople who transition between indoor and outdoor environments, such as electricians, plumbers, and site supervisors. Its low-bulk design also makes it a sensible choice for delivery drivers and warehouse staff who need to stay warm but require total freedom of movement for lifting and handling tasks.

Practical Advice
The jacket is designed with a professional fit in mind. When selecting your size, consider what you will be wearing underneath; while the softshell panels provide stretch, the padded sections are more structured. It functions exceptionally well as a standalone outer layer in cool conditions or as a substantial mid-layer under a waterproof shell during heavy rain.
Caring for your product
To maintain the technical properties of the Insatherm padding and the elasticity of the softshell panels, it is important to follow specific care guidelines. We recommend a domestic machine wash at 40°C. Washing at this temperature ensures the removal of site grime without compromising the integrity of the synthetic fibres or any applied customisation.
Bleach must be avoided at all costs, as the harsh chemicals will degrade the nylon fabric and cause the colours to fade prematurely. When drying, use a low-heat tumble dry setting to prevent the heat-sensitive elastane from losing its shape. If ironing is required, use a cool setting only to avoid damaging the technical fabrics.
Finally, do not dry clean this garment. The solvents used in the dry cleaning process can damage the internal padding and the adhesives used in some printing processes, leading to a loss of both insulation and professional appearance.
