Product Overview

The Flexatex Chem Trousers represent a significant advancement in protective workwear, specifically engineered for those working in environments where both wet weather and chemical exposure are daily realities. Part of our All Weather Protection range, these trousers are not merely a waterproof layer but a specialized technical garment. They provide a robust barrier against moisture and specific chemical hazards, ensuring that performance is never compromised by the elements or industrial substances.

Key Features

  • EN 13034 Certification: This garment meets rigorous safety standards for protection against light mist sprays, liquid aerosols, and minor splashes of chemicals, providing essential security in hazardous settings.
  • Chemical Resistance: Specifically tested to resist 10% sodium hydroxide, these trousers are indispensable for operators handling specific corrosive substances.
  • Anti-fungal Treatment: The fabric is treated to inhibit the growth of fungi, which is vital for maintaining garment hygiene and longevity when used in damp or humid conditions.
  • Advanced Fabric Strength: Developed to withstand high-stress environments, the material boasts exceptional tear and tensile strength, ensuring it remains intact even during strenuous physical activity.
  • Fully Waterproof Construction: The PU coating and sealed design ensure the wearer remains dry, even in heavy downpours.

Design & Performance

The Flexatex Chem Trousers are constructed from a 100% Polyester Tricot Knit. This choice of base fabric is deliberate; the knit provides a level of flexibility and comfort that traditional woven fabrics often lack, allowing for unrestricted movement. The fabric is then enhanced with a breathable PU coating. This technical layer is what gives the trousers their waterproof properties while allowing internal moisture to escape, preventing the wearer from becoming clammy during physical exertion.

Finished in a professional Forest Nights colour, the trousers are surprisingly lightweight given their industrial-grade durability. The design focuses on the balance between high-level protection and the practical needs of the modern tradesperson, ensuring the garment is as comfortable at the end of a shift as it was at the start.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Despite their technical coating, these trousers are suitable for both print and embroidery, allowing you to maintain a professional brand identity alongside high-level safety. Embroidery is the ideal choice for small, precise company logos or staff names, offering a sophisticated and permanent finish. For larger, more prominent branding that needs to be seen from a distance, our high-quality printing process is the preferred option.

All customisation is managed by our expert in-house team at our Telford facility. Having been established in 1976, we have decades of experience in ensuring that your branding is applied correctly without compromising the integrity of technical fabrics.

Use Cases

These trousers are ideally suited for professionals in the chemical processing industry, waste management, and utility sectors. They are also an excellent choice for agricultural workers or anyone operating in outdoor environments where they may encounter chemical runoff or require a higher degree of hygiene due to the anti-fungal treatment.

We don't just supply garments; we provide well-engineered solutions that keep your team safe and professional.

Practical Advice

As these are designed to be worn as an outer layer, we recommend considering the clothing you will be wearing underneath when selecting your size. If you plan to wear them over heavy-duty work trousers, you may find a slightly more generous fit beneficial for ease of movement.

Caring for your product

To ensure your Flexatex Chem Trousers continue to provide maximum protection and maintain their technical properties, proper maintenance is essential.

We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Washing at this temperature effectively removes dirt and contaminants while preserving the integrity of the PU coating and the fabric’s chemical resistance.

You must not use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will chemically degrade the protective coatings and the polyester fibres, significantly reducing the lifespan and safety performance of the trousers.

These trousers should not be tumble dried; instead, they should be drip line dried. High heat from a tumble dryer can cause the PU coating to peel or crack, which would compromise the waterproof seal. Similarly, do not iron this garment, as the direct heat will melt the technical materials.

Finally, do not dry clean this product. The solvents used in dry cleaning are too harsh for the specialized finishes and can strip away the chemical and anti-fungal treatments that make this garment so effective.
