Product Overview
The Flexatex Chem Long Coat represents a high-specification solution for professionals requiring both weather protection and certified chemical resistance. Engineered using advanced FlexaTex™ Chem fabric, this coat is designed to be fully waterproof while maintaining breathability, ensuring that comfort is not sacrificed for safety. It serves as an essential layer for those working in environments where exposure to liquid aerosols or minor chemical splashes is a persistent risk.
Key Features
- EN 13034 Certification: This garment meets the rigorous requirements for Type 6 chemical protection, safeguarding the wearer against light mist sprays and minor liquid splashes.
- Chemical Resistance: Specifically tested to be resistant to 10% sodium hydroxide, providing necessary peace of mind in specific industrial handling roles.
- Antifungal Treatment: The inclusion of an anti-fungicide treatment prevents the growth of mould and fungi, which is particularly beneficial when the garment is used in damp conditions or stored frequently.
- High Tensile Strength: The fabric is developed to withstand high levels of stress, featuring exceptional tear and tensile strength to ensure the garment remains intact in demanding environments.
Design & Performance
The core of this garment is the FlexaTex™ Chem material, which consists of a 100% polyester tricot knit with a breathable PU coating. Unlike standard heavy-duty waterproofs, this lightweight fabric offers a unique combination of durability and flexibility. This flexibility allows for an unrestricted range of movement, which is critical when navigating complex workspaces. The tricot knit provides a smooth internal finish, while the PU coating acts as a robust barrier against water and chemical ingress without causing the wearer to overheat.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
To ensure your team presents a unified and professional image, the Flexatex Chem Long Coat is suitable for both print and embroidery. Embroidery is the preferred choice for adding company logos or staff names, providing a durable and prestigious finish that withstands regular wear. For larger, high-impact branding or safety messaging, print offers a bold and clear alternative. Our in-house team in Telford has been perfecting these customisation techniques since 1976, ensuring that your branding is applied with technical precision that respects the integrity of the waterproof fabric.
Use Cases
This coat is ideally suited for laboratory technicians, chemical processing operators, and industrial cleaning crews. Its extended length provides additional coverage, making it a superior choice for anyone working around liquid chemicals or in heavy outdoor rain where standard jackets might fall short. It is also an excellent choice for environmental services where antifungal properties are a practical necessity.

Practical Advice
As this is a lightweight fabric, we recommend sizing the coat to accommodate your usual work layers underneath. If you are working in colder environments, there is ample room for a fleece or sweatshirt, ensuring the coat acts as the final protective barrier without feeling restrictive.
Caring for your product
To maintain the technical performance and protective qualities of your coat, it is essential to follow the specific care instructions provided. A domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a mild process is recommended to remove contaminants without degrading the breathable PU coating.
You must avoid the use of bleach, as harsh oxidising agents will compromise the chemical resistance and structural integrity of the polyester fibres. Similarly, the garment should not be tumble dried; heat from drying machines can cause the waterproof laminate to peel or distort. Instead, we advise that the coat is drip-lined dried to maintain its shape and finish.
Ironing is strictly prohibited as the high heat will melt the PU coating, rendering the garment no longer waterproof or safe for chemical environments. Finally, do not dry clean this product, as the solvents used in that process can strip away the specialized antifungal and chemical-resistant treatments.
