Product Overview

The Flexatex Chem Jacket is a highly specialised piece of technical outerwear designed to provide a robust barrier against both the elements and specific industrial hazards. Engineered for those working in demanding environments where chemical exposure is a risk, this jacket balances high-level protection with the flexibility required for physical labour. It is not merely a waterproof shell; it is a certified piece of protective equipment that meets stringent safety standards while maintaining a professional appearance in the Forest Nights colourway.

Key Features

  • EN 13034 Certification: This jacket is fully certified to offer protection against light mist sprays, liquid aerosols, and minor splashes of chemicals, ensuring compliance with essential safety protocols.
  • Chemical Resistance: The fabric is specifically resistant to 10% sodium hydroxide, providing a critical layer of safety for workers handling specific alkaline substances.
  • Antifungal Treatment: An integrated anti-fungicide treatment prevents the growth of mould and bacteria, which is essential for maintaining hygiene and extending the lifespan of the garment in damp conditions.
  • High Tear and Tensile Strength: The advanced material is developed to withstand significant stress, meaning it won't easily snag or rip when used in high-intensity work environments.
  • Waterproof and Breathable: The PU-coated tricot knit ensures you remain entirely dry during heavy rain while allowing internal moisture to escape, preventing the discomfort of overheating.

Design & Performance

At the core of this jacket is the FlexaTex Chem fabric, a 100% Polyester Tricot Knit with a breathable PU coating. This construction offers a lightweight feel without sacrificing durability. Unlike traditional heavy-duty waterproofs that can feel restrictive, the tricot knit provides exceptional flexibility, allowing for a full range of movement whether you are climbing, reaching, or lifting. The Forest Nights hue offers a professional and modern alternative to standard black or navy, while the technical finish ensures the garment remains resilient against the mechanical stresses of the workplace.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

To ensure your team presents a unified and professional image, the Flexatex Chem Jacket is suitable for both print and embroidery. Embroidery is particularly effective for company logos or staff names, providing a durable, high-quality finish that withstands the rigours of the job. For larger, more vibrant branding, our printing services offer a bold visual impact. Every customisation is handled by our expert in-house team at our Telford facility, drawing on decades of experience since our founding in 1976 to ensure your branding is as resilient as the jacket itself.

Use Cases

This jacket is ideally suited for professionals in industrial maintenance, chemical processing facilities, and cleaning services where exposure to light chemical splashes is a factor. Its waterproof properties and durable build also make it an excellent choice for outdoor tradespeople who require a more sophisticated level of protection than a standard rain jacket can provide.

Why MyWorkwear

MyWorkwear has been a cornerstone of the British workwear industry since 1976. Operating from our Telford base, we combine nearly half a century of technical expertise with a commitment to quality. We understand that workwear is an investment in your team's safety and your company's reputation, which is why we only supply garments that meet our exacting standards for performance and durability.

Practical Advice

As this is a lightweight, protective shell, we recommend layering it over a thermal mid-layer or fleece during the winter months. The generous cut allows for comfortable movement even when worn over multiple layers. When choosing your size, consider the clothing you intend to wear underneath to ensure the best fit for your specific working conditions.

Caring for your product

To maintain the technical integrity and chemical resistance of your jacket, it is vital to follow the care instructions precisely. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a normal process. Exceeding this temperature can damage the breathable PU coating and compromise the waterproof seal.

You must not use bleach on this garment, as harsh chemicals will degrade the antifungal treatment and the fabric's protective barrier. Similarly, do not dry clean or iron the jacket; high heat and dry cleaning solvents will melt or strip the specialised coatings, rendering the jacket ineffective against chemical splashes.

For drying, we advise a drip line dry. Do not tumble dry, as the mechanical action and heat of a dryer can cause the tricot knit to lose its shape and damage the tensile strength of the polyester fibres.
