Product Overview

The FFP3 Valved Dolomite Fold Flat Respirator is a critical piece of personal protective equipment designed for environments where high-level respiratory filtration is non-negotiable. Supplied in a convenient pack of three, these respirators offer FFP3 protection, which is the highest classification for disposable face masks, filtering out a high percentage of airborne particles. Each mask is individually wrapped in a polybag, ensuring that the filter remains pristine and hygienic until the moment it is required. The vertical flat-fold design makes these respirators exceptionally easy to store in pockets or toolboxes without risking damage to the pre-shaped structure found in cup-style masks.

Key Features
  • FFP3 Protection Level: Provides the maximum level of filtration against solid and liquid aerosols, ensuring safety in hazardous environments.
  • Dolomite Clogging Test (D): Certified to resist clogging for longer periods, which maintains low breathing resistance even in extremely dusty conditions.
  • High-Performance Exhalation Valve: Significantly reduces heat and moisture build-up inside the mask, making it far more comfortable for extended wear.
  • Individually Wrapped: Each mask is sealed in its own polybag, preventing contamination before use and allowing for easy, hygienic storage.
  • Adjustable Fitment: Features an adjustable nose clip and toggle adjusters on the straps, allowing the user to achieve a bespoke, airtight seal.

Design & Performance

Constructed primarily from high-grade polypropylene with a soft PU foam internal seal, this respirator is designed to be as lightweight as possible while maintaining structural integrity. The choice of materials ensures that the mask remains comfortable against the skin, reducing the risk of irritation during long shifts. The vertical fold design is not merely for storage; it allows the mask to move more naturally with the jaw when speaking, helping to maintain the seal integrity better than some rigid alternatives.

Performance is further enhanced by the inclusion of the Dolomite 'D' rating. This optional test involves exposing the respirator to high levels of coal dust; passing it proves that the mask can handle high-dust environments without the wearer experiencing the 'suffocation' feeling often associated with lower-quality filters. It is a substantial, reliable barrier for the professional user.

Why No Customisation?

As this product is a piece of certified Life Safety PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), MyWorkwear does not offer customisation such as embroidery or printing. Any puncture of the filter material or the application of heat and adhesives can compromise the respiratory protection and invalidate the EN 149 safety certification. Your safety is our primary concern, and as such, these items are sold only in their original, tested state.

Use Cases

These respirators are essential for professionals across a variety of sectors including construction, carpentry, and welding, where fine dust and fumes are prevalent. They are also widely used in medical and veterinary settings, as well as by plumbers and painters who may encounter hazardous particulates. Given the high FFP3 rating, they are suitable for tasks involving highly toxic dusts, such as those found in pharmaceutical handling or lead processing.

Practical Advice

To ensure maximum protection, it is vital to perform a 'fit check' every time you don the mask. Use the toggle adjusters to ensure the straps are tight enough to pull the mask against your face without being uncomfortable, and mould the nose clip firmly over the bridge of your nose. Remember that facial hair can prevent a proper seal; for FFP3 protection to be effective, the wearer should be clean-shaven in the area where the mask meets the skin.

Caring for your product

To maintain the performance and safety of these respirators, they must be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and chemical vapours. If the packaging is damaged before use, the mask should be discarded to avoid the risk of pre-contamination.

As these are 'NR' (Non-Reusable) rated respirators, they are designed for single-shift use only. Once a shift is completed, or if the mask becomes heavily soiled or breathing resistance becomes noticeably higher, the mask should be disposed of responsibly. Do not attempt to wash or spray the mask with disinfectant, as this will destroy the electrostatic properties of the filter material and render the protection useless.
