Product Overview

The Extreme Cold Weather Sock is a specialised piece of footwear protection designed for those who work in demanding, low-temperature environments. Engineered with a significant 40% wool content, these socks provide exceptional thermal insulation while maintaining a breathable environment for the feet. The design prioritises the health and comfort of the wearer, ensuring that long shifts in cold stores or outdoor winter conditions do not result in discomfort or dampness.

Key Features

  • 40% Wool Composition: This natural fibre provides superior warmth and temperature regulation, keeping feet warm without overheating.
  • Double-Layered Construction: The two-layer system traps air between the fabrics, creating an effective thermal barrier for enhanced heat retention.
  • Cushioned Heel and Toe: Added padding in high-impact zones offers essential support and increases the longevity of the sock in heavy-use areas.
  • Moisture-Wicking Technology: The fabric structure actively draws perspiration away from the skin, ensuring your feet stay dry and reducing the risk of blisters.
  • Odour-Resistant Properties: The natural characteristics of the wool help to manage bacteria, keeping the socks fresher for longer during extended wear.

Design & Performance

These socks are more than just a thick layer of fabric; they are a well-engineered solution for thermal management. The double-layered design is particularly effective for those standing on cold surfaces, such as concrete floors in bakeries or butcher shops, as it prevents cold transfer. Despite being a substantial, sturdy garment, the moisture-wicking capabilities ensure that sweat does not accumulate, which is vital for preventing heat loss in sub-zero conditions. The reinforced heel and toe areas mean these socks will withstand the rigours of a busy working environment without thinning or developing holes prematurely.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

While socks offer a more compact surface for branding, we provide high-quality customisation options at our Telford-based facility. Embroidery is an excellent choice for a refined professional appearance, allowing for company names or small logos to be rendered with precision and durability. For larger or more vibrant branding, our print services can deliver bold results. Since 1976, our in-house team has been perfecting the art of workwear customisation, ensuring that even your footwear accessories contribute to a cohesive corporate identity.

Use Cases

These socks are ideally suited for professionals in the catering and food production industries, including bakers and butchers who frequently move between ambient and refrigerated spaces. They are also an essential choice for logistics staff working in cold storage facilities or outdoor tradespeople requiring reliable warmth during the winter months.

Why MyWorkwear

MyWorkwear has been a cornerstone of the UK workwear industry since 1976. From our technical hub in Telford, we combine decades of expertise with modern production techniques to provide garments that truly perform. We understand the technical requirements of different trades, ensuring that every item we supply meets our high standards for durability and professional finish.

Practical Advice

Due to the substantial, double-layered nature of these socks, we recommend ensuring your work boots have sufficient internal volume to accommodate them. A slightly looser fit in your footwear will allow the socks to trap air more effectively, which is the key to maintaining maximum warmth. For the best thermal performance, they are best worn directly against the skin or over a very thin liner sock.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance thermal properties and moisture-wicking capabilities of these socks, they must be laundered with care. We recommend a gentle wash to ensure the wool fibres do not become agitated or matted, which would significantly reduce their ability to trap heat.

Avoid the use of bleach or harsh chemical detergents, as these will break down the natural proteins in the wool and the elasticity of the synthetic fibres, leading to a loss of shape and reduced durability. Similarly, they should be dried away from direct high heat sources; excessive heat can cause the fibres to become brittle and lose their soft, cushioned feel.

Ironing is not required and should be avoided, as the high temperature of an iron can damage the technical fibres and compromise the double-layered structure that provides the sock's essential warmth.
