Product Overview

The DX4 Insulated Jacket is a high-performance solution for professionals requiring superior thermal protection without sacrificing mobility. Engineered as part of the All Weather Protection range, this jacket utilises a heavy padded baffle construction to trap heat effectively in cold environments. The ergonomic design ensures that despite its substantial insulation, the garment remains streamlined and functional for active work on-site.

Key Features

  • InsulatexPro Filling: This advanced polyester insulation provides exceptional warmth by trapping heat within its fibres, ensuring you remain comfortable in freezing conditions.
  • Dynamic Stretch Fabric: The use of stretch-capable materials allows the jacket to move with your body, reducing resistance when reaching or lifting.
  • Raglan Sleeves: The sleeve construction removes seams from the top of the shoulder, providing a greater range of motion and preventing water ingress at high-stress points.
  • Secure Storage: Equipped with zipped side entry pockets, chest pockets, and internal compartments, providing ample space for tools, mobile devices, and personal items.
  • Portwest Extreme Waterproof Shell: A high-specification membrane offers a formidable barrier against heavy rain while maintaining high levels of breathability to prevent internal moisture build-up.

Design & Performance

The technical construction of the DX468 is centred around the Portwest Extreme waterproof shell. This 150D polyester stretch fabric is paired with a PU membrane that offers a 20,000mm waterproof rating, making it suitable for the most demanding weather conditions. Despite its protective qualities, the 10,000g/m²/24hrs breathability rating ensures that perspiration can escape, keeping the wearer dry from the inside out.

The interior is lined with a smooth polyester stretch pongee, which allows the jacket to slide easily over mid-layers without bunching. The heavy-weight filling is distributed evenly through the baffles to prevent cold spots, providing a consistent thermal barrier across the torso and arms.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The DX4 Insulated Jacket is designed to accommodate professional branding. For a sophisticated and durable finish, we recommend embroidery for company logos and staff names on the chest or arms. This provides a permanent, high-quality appearance that withstands the rigours of daily wear.

Alternatively, for larger, more vibrant branding across the back, heat-applied print is an excellent choice. This method allows for complex designs to be displayed clearly without compromising the garment's insulation. All customisation is carried out by our expert in-house team in Telford, who have been perfecting workwear branding since 1976.

Use Cases

This jacket is ideally suited for site managers, surveyors, and outdoor technicians who require a professional appearance while working in exposed, cold environments. Its robust construction also makes it a reliable choice for logistics and transport personnel who frequently move between temperature-controlled vehicles and outdoor loading bays.

Practical Advice

The DX468 features an ergonomic fit designed to be worn over standard work shirts or medium-weight mid-layers. If you intend to wear multiple heavy layers underneath, you may wish to consider the next size up to ensure full freedom of movement through the shoulders and chest.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance waterproof membrane and the loft of the insulation, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 30°C using a mild process. Using high temperatures can damage the PU membrane and reduce the jacket's waterproof effectiveness.

Do not use bleach, as this will degrade the polyester fibres and cause the colour to fade prematurely. The jacket should not be tumble dried; instead, it should be hung for drip line drying. Excessive heat from a tumble dryer can cause the synthetic filling to clump and may damage the stretch properties of the shell.

Do not iron this garment, as the heat from an iron will melt the technical synthetic fabrics. Dry cleaning should also be avoided, as the chemicals used can strip the waterproof coating from the exterior fabric.
