Product Overview
The Chef's Cumbria Jacket is a sophisticated and modern choice for catering professionals who require a blend of style and technical performance. Designed to meet the rigorous demands of a busy kitchen, this jacket ensures your team remains comfortable while maintaining a sharp, unified appearance. Its lightweight construction is specifically tailored for high-temperature environments, providing a practical solution for chefs, bakers, and butchers alike.
Key Features
- Mandarin collar: Offers a contemporary and professional look that remains tidy throughout a demanding shift.
- Stud front fastening: Allows for quick and easy dressing, providing a clean aesthetic without the hassle of traditional buttons.
- Sleeve pocket: Provides a dedicated space for essential tools such as pens or thermometers, ensuring they are always within reach.
- Short sleeves: Enhances airflow and freedom of movement, which is vital when working in confined, hot kitchen spaces.
Design & Performance
The jacket is constructed from Kingsmill Polycotton, a high-performance fabric blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This specific composition is engineered to offer the breathability of cotton alongside the hard-wearing nature of polyester. The fabric is fully pre-shrunk, meaning it will retain its shape and fit even after frequent industrial laundering.
Durability is at the core of the design; the material features superior dye retention, ensuring the deep black colour does not fade prematurely. This ensures your staff look as professional on their hundredth shift as they did on their first.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
This jacket is perfectly suited for both print and embroidery, allowing you to align your team's attire with your brand identity. Embroidery is the preferred choice for many in the catering trade, as it provides a traditional, high-quality finish for business logos and staff names that can withstand high-temperature washes. For larger or more vibrant branding, our printing services offer a crisp and bold alternative.
At MyWorkwear, we have been perfecting our craft since 1976. Our Telford-based team manages all customisation in-house, ensuring that every stitch and print meets our exacting standards before it reaches your kitchen.
Use Cases
This garment is highly versatile and suitable for various roles within the food industry. It is an ideal choice for head chefs and kitchen staff, but its clean lines also make it appropriate for front-of-house roles in hotels, bars, and restaurants. It is equally functional for specialist trades such as bakers and butchers who require a durable and easy-to-clean uniform.

Practical Advice
Due to the lightweight nature of the Kingsmill fabric, this jacket is best worn as a primary layer in hot environments. When choosing your size, consider the movement required during a busy service; the 4XL fit is designed to provide ample room for comfort without appearing oversized.
Caring for your product
To ensure your jacket remains in peak condition, it is important to follow the recommended care routine. Proper maintenance not only preserves the fabric but also ensures your custom branding remains intact.
Machine wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. This temperature is sufficient to remove most kitchen oils and food stains while protecting the polyester-cotton fibres from heat damage.
Do not use bleach. Harsh bleaching agents will break down the fabric's structure and cause significant discolouration to the black finish.
Tumble dry on a low setting. Excessive heat in the dryer can lead to unnecessary shrinkage and may affect the longevity of any printed customisation.
Iron at a maximum temperature of 150°C. This allows you to maintain a crisp, professional appearance without the risk of scorching the synthetic components of the fabric.
For deep cleaning, this garment can be professionally dry cleaned using Tetrachloroethene, which is effective for removing stubborn grease without compromising the jacket's integrity.
