Product Overview
The Yoko Reflective Polycotton Ballistic Trousers are an essential piece of equipment for professionals operating in environments where standard workwear is insufficient. Engineered to provide a robust barrier against physical hazards, these trousers are particularly well-suited for those working in waste management or public maintenance. The primary focus of this design is the integration of high-performance ballistic nylon panels, ensuring the wearer is protected from sharp debris while maintaining the comfort required for a full shift.
Key Features
- EN388: 2003 Tested Ballistic Panels: The nylon ballistic material covers the outer legs from ankle to thigh, offering superior protection against glass, tin cans, and other hazardous materials.
- High-Visibility Reflective Bands: Two 5cm wide reflective tapes encircle the bottom of each leg, significantly increasing visibility in low-light or high-traffic environments.
- Comfort-Focused Waistband: Lateral elastication on both sides of the waist allows for a natural range of movement and a more forgiving fit throughout the day.
- Durable Fabric Composition: The medium-weight polycotton blend combines the breathability of cotton with the hard-wearing resilience of polyester.
- Secure Fastening: A front zip fly with a concealed hook and bar fastening provides a secure and professional finish.
Design & Performance
The technical performance of these trousers is anchored by the EN388: 2003 testing of the ballistic panels. This certification ensures that the nylon material can withstand significant mechanical risks, making it a reliable choice for refuse workers and local authority teams. The medium-weight fabric is substantial enough to feel sturdy and protective, yet it remains flexible enough to prevent fatigue during active tasks.
In terms of practicality, the trousers feature two side swing pockets and a jetted hip pocket, providing ample space for essential tools and personal items. The five belt loops ensure that if a utility belt is required, it will be well-supported and remain in place during strenuous activity.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
For businesses looking to maintain a professional appearance while adhering to safety standards, these trousers are an excellent candidate for customisation. Embroidery is highly recommended for company logos or staff names on the upper thigh or rear pocket area, providing a durable and high-quality finish that withstands industrial wear. If a larger, more prominent branding solution is required, our high-quality print options are also suitable.
All customisation is performed by our expert in-house team in Telford. Having been established in 1976, MyWorkwear has the technical knowledge to ensure that your branding is applied without compromising the integrity of the protective panels or the visibility of the reflective tapes.
Use Cases
These trousers are specifically designed for high-risk manual roles. They are the standard choice for refuse collection workers, local authority maintenance crews, and security guards. They are also highly effective for any professional working in environments where broken glass or sharp metal waste is a frequent hazard.

Practical Advice
To ensure the best fit, please note that these trousers come in both Regular and Long leg lengths. The elasticated side panels offer some flexibility, but we recommend choosing your standard waist size for the best results. If you typically wear thermal base layers during winter months, the generous cut of these trousers will accommodate them comfortably.
Caring for your product
To ensure these trousers continue to provide the necessary protection and visibility, proper maintenance is vital. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Using a synthetic cycle will help preserve the technical fibres of the ballistic panels and the reflective tape.
Do not use biological washing powders or bleach, as these can degrade the protective coatings and the integrity of the polycotton blend. Avoid tumble drying, wringing, or ironing the garment, as high heat and mechanical stress can melt or distort the reflective bands and the nylon panels.
Please be aware that this garment has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles to remain fully compliant with its safety specifications. After this point, the reflective and protective qualities may diminish, and the garment should be inspected for replacement.
