Product Overview
The Yoko Hi-vis zip ID reflective border waistcoat is a well-engineered safety garment that prioritises both environmental responsibility and worker visibility. Constructed from 100% recycled polyester, this waistcoat offers a sustainable alternative for modern businesses without compromising on safety standards. It is designed for daily use in demanding environments, featuring a secure zip fastening and a dedicated ID pocket to ensure professional identification is always visible and secure.
Key Features
- Safety Certified: Conforms to EN ISO20471:2013 Class 2, ensuring high visibility in professional settings. The Orange variant also meets RIS-3279-TOM standards for rail industry compliance.
- Recycled Construction: Made from 100% recycled polyester, supporting your company’s sustainability goals while providing a durable, lightweight fabric.
- Reflective Borders: Integrated reflective borders enhance the standard hi-vis stripes, providing additional visibility in low-light conditions.
- Secure Zip Fastening: A full-length, matching-colour zip replaces the traditional hook-and-loop closure, offering a more secure fit and preventing the garment from catching on machinery.
- Reinforced Stitching: Twin stitching around the ID pocket and zip area ensures the waistcoat withstands the strain of frequent use and heavy handling.
Design & Performance
This waistcoat is crafted from a lightweight fabric that allows for breathability when worn over standard work clothing. The choice of 100% recycled polyester provides a smooth finish that is comfortable yet resilient. The design includes a clear ID pocket on the chest, which is essential for secure sites where identification must be displayed at all times. The reinforced stitching is a critical design element, preventing the common issue of the ID pouch tearing away from the main body under duress.
Performance is further enhanced by the reflective borders, which catch light from multiple angles. This design detail ensures that the wearer is conspicuous not just from the front or back, but also from the side, which is vital in complex working environments such as construction sites or logistics hubs.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Yoko HVW103 is designed with a large decoration area, making it perfectly suited for branding. For a superior finish that conveys expertise, we recommend embroidery. This method is ideal for company logos and individual names, providing a durable and professional appearance that survives the wear and tear of a physical working day.
For larger graphics or promotional messaging on the rear of the waistcoat, our high-quality printing service offers a bold and clear result. This ensures your branding is legible even from a distance. Our in-house team in Telford has been managing these processes since 1976, ensuring that every customised garment reflects the quality of your business.
Use Cases
This garment is an essential requirement for individuals working in construction, warehousing, and traffic management. The Hi-vis Orange version is specifically suited for rail workers due to its RIS-3279-TOM compliance. It is equally appropriate for delivery drivers and event staff who require clear identification and high visibility in public or busy spaces.

Practical Advice
The sizing range is extensive, spanning from Small to 6XL, making it suitable for a diverse workforce. We recommend selecting a size that allows for comfortable layering over sweatshirts or jackets, particularly for outdoor use in colder months. The zip fastening ensures the waistcoat remains closed even when the wearer is active, providing a tidier appearance than hook-and-loop alternatives.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility performance of this waistcoat, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Regular washing at this temperature ensures that dirt and grime, which can obscure the fluorescent fabric, are effectively removed without damaging the polyester fibres.
Bleach must be avoided at all costs. The chemicals in bleach will degrade the reflective tape and cause the high-visibility dye to fade, which will render the garment non-compliant with safety standards. Similarly, this product should not be tumble dried, as the heat can cause the reflective borders to crack and the zip to warp.
Do not iron this waistcoat; the high heat of an iron will melt the synthetic recycled polyester and destroy the reflective properties of the stripes. Finally, please be aware that this garment is rated for a maximum of 25 wash cycles. After this point, the safety performance may no longer meet the original certified standards, and the waistcoat should be replaced to ensure continued protection.
