Product Overview

The Yoko Hi-vis Fontaine Flight Jacket is a substantial and versatile heavy-weight safety garment designed to provide superior protection in the most demanding work environments. Engineered with a two-in-one styling, this jacket features a lustrous ripstop fabric that is both waterproof and breathable, ensuring you remain dry and comfortable throughout the working day. The addition of a soft-touch removable sherpa pile liner provides exceptional warmth during the winter season, which can be detached when the temperature rises, making this a truly adaptable piece of equipment for year-round use.

Key Features

  • Certified Safety Standards: Compliant with EN ISO20471 Class 3 and EN342:2004 for protection against the cold. The orange variant also conforms to RIS-3279-TOM, making it essential for the UK railway industry.
  • High-Visibility Design: Features twin-stitched 5cm retro-reflective tapes around the body and arms, with additional shoulder tapes to ensure maximum visibility from all angles.
  • Weatherproof Construction: Made from fine check pattern ripstop polyester that is waterproof and breathable, featuring a fleece-lined collar and a concealed, removable hood for complete coverage.
  • Functional Storage: Includes a waterproof zip chest pocket, a concealed ID card holder, a radio/walkie-talkie loop, and dedicated pockets for mobile phones and pens on the left arm.
  • Practical Fleece Lining: Two-way bottom pockets are lined with fleece to keep hands warm in freezing conditions.

Design & Performance

This jacket is built for durability and long-term performance. The ripstop Fontaine check polyester is specifically chosen for its resistance to tearing and abrasion, ensuring the garment remains intact even when subjected to the rigours of manual labour. For those working in sensitive sectors, the jacket is designed to be immune from metal detectors and scanners, making it an ideal choice for the electronics and telecommunications industries. The heavy-duty two-way zips are protected by a storm flap with a hook and loop fastening closure, providing an effective barrier against wind and driving rain. An elasticated bottom ensures a flexible and comfortable fit that moves with the wearer.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The Yoko Fontaine Flight Jacket is perfectly suited for professional branding. The left chest is left clear to provide a clean area for decoration, while an internal bottom zip allows our team to access the fabric directly, ensuring branding is applied without interfering with the internal lining. Embroidery is highly recommended for a superior, professional appearance that stands the test of time, making it ideal for company logos and staff names. For larger, bold identification on site, high-quality printing is an excellent alternative. All customisation is handled by our expert in-house team in Telford, a service we have been perfecting since 1976.

Use Cases

This jacket is primarily designed for professionals in the railway, construction, and telecommunications sectors where high-visibility Class 3 protection is a legal requirement. Its thermal properties and waterproof finish also make it the preferred choice for outdoor site managers, engineers, and recovery drivers who require a garment that can withstand the unpredictable British weather.

Practical Advice

The jacket is designed with a regular fit to accommodate base layers. If you intend to wear several thick layers of clothing underneath during the coldest months, we suggest reviewing the generous size range, which extends from Small to 3XL. The pack-away hood is easily deployed for sudden downpours but can be tucked away to prevent it from becoming a snag hazard when not required.

Caring for your product

To maintain the integrity of the waterproof fabric and the effectiveness of the reflective tapes, the jacket should be washed at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a normal process. Exceeding this temperature can damage the technical membranes and reduce the garment's lifespan.

Bleaching is strictly prohibited, as it will cause the fluorescent colours to fade and degrade the retro-reflective material, compromising your safety on site. Do not iron or tumble dry this jacket, as the high heat will melt the polyester fibres and ruin the waterproof coating.

Industrial laundering and dry cleaning should be avoided to prevent chemical damage. To ensure the jacket remains compliant with safety certifications, please note that it has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles, after which the visibility levels may no longer meet the required standards.
