Product Overview
The Uneek Clothing UC802 Long Sleeve Hi Vis Safety Waistcoat is a vital component for any professional working in high-risk environments where maximum visibility is a non-negotiable requirement. Designed with a long-sleeve silhouette, this waistcoat provides significantly more reflective surface area than standard vests, ensuring you are visible from a full 360-degree range. It is a practical, lightweight solution for staying compliant with safety regulations without adding unnecessary bulk to your work attire.
Key Features
- Class 3 High Visibility Approval: Meeting the EN471 specification for Class 3, this waistcoat offers the highest level of visibility, essential for high-speed traffic areas and complex work backgrounds.
- Stitched Retro-Reflective Strips: The 50mm wide reflective bands are securely stitched rather than heat-pressed, providing superior durability and ensuring they remain attached through daily wear.
- Velcro Fastening: The front closure uses a hook-and-loop system, allowing for quick application and removal, which is particularly useful for rapid response or changing site conditions.
- Black Polyester Bound Edges: These reinforced edges prevent the lightweight fabric from fraying at the borders, extending the lifespan of the garment in demanding environments.
- UKCA and CE Certified: Fully compliant with current safety directives, giving you total peace of mind that your PPE meets all legal requirements.
Design & Performance
This waistcoat is manufactured from 100% lightweight polyester, chosen for its ability to provide a bright, fluorescent base that does not fade easily under UV exposure. The fabric is specifically designed to be breathable, making it comfortable for use over long shifts, even when layered over heavier work jackets or sweatshirts. The performance is further bolstered by the '2 band and 2 brace' reflective configuration, which includes strips around the body, arms, and over each shoulder to define the human shape even in low-light conditions.
The orange variant specifically conforms to GO/RT 3279 Issue 8, making it an essential requirement for the UK railway industry. The attention to detail, such as the 50mm wide reflective strips, ensures that the garment maintains its protective properties throughout its service life.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
Adding your company branding to the UC802 is an effective way to maintain a professional appearance while ensuring safety. Because this is a lightweight polyester garment, it is exceptionally well-suited for high-definition printing, which is perfect for large logos on the back that need to be seen from a distance. For a more traditional and prestigious finish, we also offer precision embroidery for smaller chest logos or staff names.
Our in-house team at MyWorkwear has been handling technical garment customisation since 1976. Operating from our facility in Telford, we ensure that every logo is positioned carefully to avoid interfering with the reflective strips, maintaining both your brand's integrity and the garment's safety certification.
Use Cases
The UC802 is specifically engineered for high-risk industries. It is the standard choice for railway workers due to its orange GO/RT compliance, but it is equally effective for motorway maintenance crews, construction site managers, and recovery vehicle operators. The long-sleeve design makes it particularly useful for workers in logistics and warehousing who need to be identified quickly by vehicle operators in large-scale sorting facilities.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, please remember that this waistcoat is typically worn over other clothing, such as a fleece or a heavy coat. We recommend choosing a size that allows for freedom of movement; if you are between sizes, opting for the larger size is often the most practical choice for comfort on-site. The Velcro fastening does allow for some minor adjustment, but a generous fit is better for layering during winter months.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility performance of this garment, it is vital to adhere to the wash cycles. This waistcoat is certified for up to 25 washes; exceeding this may cause the reflective strips to lose their effectiveness, meaning the garment will no longer meet the safety standards for which it was designed.
We recommend a domestic wash at 40°C. Using a higher temperature can damage the polyester fibres and cause the reflective tape to crack or lose its retro-reflective properties. Always ensure the Velcro is fastened before washing to prevent it from snagging the polyester fabric.
Never use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will destroy the fluorescent dyes in the polyester, making the waistcoat appear dull and significantly reducing your visibility on-site. For the best results, allow the garment to air dry rather than using a tumble dryer, which can cause heat damage to the reflective elements.
