Product Overview
The Scruffs Trade Flex trousers represent a sophisticated intersection of durability and ergonomic design, specifically engineered for the modern tradesperson who requires mobility without compromising on protection. Constructed from a robust twill fabric that incorporates built-in stretch, these trousers move with the wearer rather than against them. The slim fit profile ensures a contemporary appearance while the inclusion of a comfort gusset provides the necessary freedom of movement required for active site work.
Key Features
- Stretch Twill Fabric: The blend of polyester and cotton provides a medium-weight feel that offers both the resilience of synthetic fibres and the breathability of cotton, enhanced by integrated stretch for superior flexibility.
- CORDURA Knee Pockets: Top-loading knee pads are protected by abrasion-resistant CORDURA fabric, ensuring that the high-wear knee area remains intact even during prolonged periods of kneeling.
- Comprehensive Tool Storage: A strategic array of holster, cargo, rule, and mobile phone pockets, alongside secure zipped compartments, allows for efficient organisation of essential equipment.
- Triple-Stitched Seams: Critical stress points are reinforced with triple stitching to prevent seam failure, significantly extending the lifespan of the garment in demanding environments.
- Reinforced Hem and Pockets: Hard-wearing canvas reinforcements on the hems and pocket edges provide additional protection against fraying and daily wear.
Design & Performance
Engineered for performance, the Trade Flex trousers utilise a medium-weight fabric composition of 81% polyester and 19% cotton. This specific blend is chosen for its ability to withstand the rigours of industrial environments while maintaining a professional look throughout the working day. The fabric's density provides a substantial feel that inspires confidence in its protective qualities without being overly heavy or restrictive.
The slim fit design is complemented by a comfort gusset, which is essential for tasks requiring crouching or climbing. By redistributing stress away from the central seams, the gusset reduces the risk of tearing and improves the overall comfort of the trousers during long shifts.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
At MyWorkwear, we understand that your clothing is a reflection of your business. These trousers are perfectly suited for both print and embroidery customisation. For a highly professional and traditional finish, we recommend embroidery for company logos or staff names, typically placed on the pocket flaps or upper thigh. This method offers a raised, textured finish that is exceptionally durable.
Alternatively, if you require larger, more vibrant branding for high visibility, our heat-applied print processes are an excellent choice. Our expert team in Telford, with experience dating back to 1976, ensures every garment is finished to our exacting standards, providing your team with a unified and professional appearance.
Use Cases
These trousers are ideal for professionals across the construction, electrical, and plumbing sectors who demand a high-performance garment that can keep up with physical work. The inclusion of holster pockets makes them particularly useful for carpenters and fitters who need immediate access to fixings and small tools. Furthermore, their Sedex certification makes them a responsible choice for businesses prioritising ethical supply chains.

Practical Advice
The Trade Flex trousers are available in a range of waist sizes from 28 to 40 inches and come in three leg lengths: Short (30"), Regular (32"), and Long (34"). We recommend selecting your standard waist size, as the built-in stretch provides a forgiving fit. For those working in colder environments, the medium-weight fabric provides an excellent base for thermal layering without feeling bulky.
Caring for your product
To ensure your trousers maintain their structural integrity and that any custom branding remains sharp, we recommend a domestic machine wash at 40°C. Washing at higher temperatures may degrade the stretch fibres and cause premature fading of the fabric.
When drying, use a low tumble dry setting or air dry where possible. Avoiding high heat during the drying process prevents the polyester fibres from becoming brittle. Do not use bleach, as this will compromise the fabric strength and ruin any custom print or embroidery.
For a crisp finish, a medium iron may be used, though care should be taken to iron on the reverse of any printed areas to avoid damage to the design. If professional cleaning is required, these trousers are compatible with most solvents except trichloroethylene.
