Product Overview
The Scruffs Trade Flex shorts are a meticulously engineered solution for tradespeople who require agility without sacrificing the resilience of their workwear. Built from a robust polyester and cotton ripstop blend, these shorts are specifically designed to handle the rigours of a busy site during warmer months. The integration of flexible stretch panels ensures that common movements—such as squatting, climbing, or reaching—are not restricted by the garment's construction.
Key Features
- Lightweight Ripstop Fabric: The technical weave provides a high level of performance and comfort, ensuring the fabric remains breathable while resisting tears and abrasions.
- Integrated Stretch Panels: Strategically placed flexible inserts allow for an exceptional range of motion, which is essential for active professionals.
- Reinforced Canvas Pockets: High-wear areas are bolstered with canvas to prevent tools and equipment from wearing through the material.
- Triple-Stitched Seams: This heavy-duty construction method ensures the shorts can withstand significant stress at the seams, greatly extending the lifespan of the garment.
- Comprehensive Storage: Featuring a dedicated cargo pocket, a secure mobile phone pocket, tool loops, and a D-ring, these shorts provide a place for every essential piece of equipment.
- YKK Zip Fly: The use of industry-standard YKK hardware ensures reliable fastening and long-term durability.
Design & Performance
The core of the Trade Flex shorts is the 65% polyester and 35% cotton ripstop fabric. This particular blend is chosen for its ability to balance moisture management with structural integrity. Ripstop is characterised by its cross-hatch reinforcement, which prevents small nicks or punctures from spreading into larger tears. Despite their lightweight feel, the triple-stitched seams and canvas pocket reinforcements provide the structural stability usually reserved for heavier work trousers.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
At MyWorkwear, we understand that your uniform is a reflection of your professional standards. These shorts are suitable for both print and embroidery customisation. Embroidery is the preferred choice for a sophisticated, professional appearance, particularly for company logos or staff names on the leg or pocket area. If you require large, bold branding that needs to stand out, our high-quality print options are an excellent alternative.
Our expert team has been providing bespoke workwear solutions from our Telford facility since 1976. We handle every aspect of the customisation process in-house, ensuring that your branding is applied with the precision and care that your business deserves.
Use Cases
These shorts are the ideal choice for electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and general contractors who work in high-temperature environments or outdoors during the summer. They are equally suited for warehouse staff and logistics professionals who need the practical storage of cargo shorts combined with the flexibility of modern performance wear.

Practical Advice
The Trade Flex shorts are available in waist sizes ranging from 30" to 40". Given the inclusion of stretch panels and the flexible fit, we recommend selecting your standard waist size for the best performance. These shorts pair exceptionally well with our range of lightweight polo shirts or moisture-wicking t-shirts for a complete warm-weather uniform.
Caring for your product
To ensure your Scruffs Trade Flex shorts maintain their shape and protective qualities, it is essential to follow the recommended care routine. We advise a machine wash at 40°C. This temperature is sufficient to remove site dirt and grime without damaging the technical polyester and cotton fibers.
You should avoid the use of bleach, as this will degrade the ripstop weave and cause the fabric to lose its structural strength. Furthermore, do not dry clean this garment, as the chemicals used in the process can interfere with the flexible stretch panels.
To preserve the integrity of the stretch inserts and any custom branding, do not tumble dry these shorts. Instead, allow them to air dry. If ironing is required to maintain a crisp professional appearance, use a cool iron setting to prevent any heat damage to the synthetic components of the fabric.
