Product Overview
The Thermal Baselayer Top is a cornerstone of the All Weather Protection range, designed to serve as the critical first layer for professionals facing the British elements. Constructed from high-performance wicking polyester, this top is engineered to manage moisture efficiently, ensuring the wearer remains dry and comfortable even during periods of high physical exertion. Its discreet black finish and streamlined silhouette allow it to sit comfortably beneath standard work shirts or jackets without adding unnecessary bulk.
Key Features
- 100% Wicking Polyester: This technical fabric is designed to pull perspiration away from the skin and move it to the outer surface of the garment for rapid evaporation, preventing the cold, damp feeling often associated with cotton undergarments.
- Crew Neck Styling: The classic crew neck provides a secure and comfortable fit that remains unobtrusive when layered under other clothing, making it a versatile choice for any uniform.
- Low Profile Seam Construction: By utilising flat, low-profile seams, the garment minimises friction against the skin, significantly reducing the risk of chafing during long shifts.
- Cuffed Sleeves: The inclusion of cuffs at the wrists ensures a snug fit that prevents heat from escaping and keeps the sleeves in place when pulling on additional layers.
Design & Performance
Performance is at the heart of this lightweight thermal garment. The 100% wicking polyester fabric is specifically chosen for its ability to regulate body temperature; it traps a thin layer of warm air against the skin while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape. This balance is essential for maintaining comfort in varying work intensities and environments.
The design prioritises a close-to-body fit, which is the most effective way to utilise the fabric's wicking properties. Despite its lightweight feel, the material is durable enough to withstand the rigours of daily wear, maintaining its shape and technical capabilities after repeated use. It is a hardworking garment that provides a silent, effective barrier against the cold.
Why No Customisation?
This product is sold as-is without customisation options primarily due to its intended use as an undergarment. As a base layer worn beneath other clothing, any branding or logos would not be visible. Furthermore, the application of embroidery or heat-applied transfers could compromise the technical integrity of the wicking fabric and potentially cause skin irritation, which defeats the purpose of a high-comfort base layer.
Use Cases
This thermal top is an essential piece of kit for anyone working outdoors during the colder months, including construction workers, agricultural staff, and engineers. It is also highly effective for those working in unheated environments such as large warehouses or cold storage facilities. Its low-profile design also makes it suitable for corporate staff who require extra warmth while commuting or working in drafty offices.

Practical Advice
For a base layer to perform correctly, it must be in direct contact with the skin. We recommend choosing your standard size for an athletic, snug fit. If you prefer a looser feel, you may wish to size up, though this may slightly reduce the moisture-wicking efficiency. Layering this top with a fleece or softshell mid-layer will provide the best thermal protection.
Caring for your product
To ensure your thermal top continues to perform at its best, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C using a mild process. High-temperature washes can degrade the synthetic polyester fibres and reduce the garment's ability to wick moisture over time.
Do not use bleach on this garment. Bleach is far too aggressive for technical fabrics and will break down the fibres, leading to a loss of shape and a significant reduction in the garment's lifespan.
It is important that you do not iron this product. The heat from an iron can melt the wicking fibres, which will effectively 'seal' the fabric and prevent it from breathing or managing moisture. The fabric is naturally crease-resistant, so hanging it to dry is sufficient.
Finally, do not dry clean this top. The harsh chemical solvents used in the dry cleaning process can strip the technical treatments from the polyester, rendering the thermal and wicking properties ineffective.
