Product Overview

The PW3 Modaflame Work HVO Class 1 FR Trousers are an expertly engineered solution for professionals operating in multi-risk environments. Constructed using inherent Modaflame fabric, these trousers provide permanent flame-resistant protection that is built into the fibre itself, ensuring the safety properties remain effective for the life of the garment. This contemporary design does not just prioritise safety; it focuses on wearer comfort and functional utility, featuring a mid-weight fabric that balances breathability with robust protection. With high-visibility orange and black contrast panelling, these trousers ensure you remain seen in low-light conditions while maintaining a modern, professional silhouette.

Key Features
  • Inherent flame resistance provides a permanent barrier against heat and flame that will not diminish with repeated laundering.
  • Triple-stitched seams throughout the garment offer superior structural strength, preventing seam failure under the physical stresses of manual labour.
  • Top-loading kneepad pockets provide a secure and easily accessible way to add cushioning, protecting your joints during floor-level tasks.
  • Reinforced fabric at key abrasion points ensures the garment can withstand heavy use without wearing thin, significantly extending its service life.
  • Multiway thigh pockets offer versatile storage for tools, mobile devices, and keys, keeping essential items within reach at all times.

Design & Performance

The performance of these trousers is driven by a sophisticated blend of modacrylic, cotton, and carbon fibre. This combination creates a fabric that is naturally flame-resistant and anti-static, essential for environments where electrical discharge or fire risks are present. The inclusion of cotton ensures the material feels soft against the skin and manages moisture effectively, preventing the build-up of heat and perspiration during long shifts.

For those requiring greater mobility, the design incorporates Modaflame Work Stretch panels. By blending elastane into the protective fibres, these trousers allow for a full range of movement without sacrificing the integrity of the flame resistance. The contrast fabric also includes aramid and viscose, which enhances the material's durability and thermal stability. Certified to EN ISO 20471 and RIS 3279 standards, these trousers are a reliable choice for the most demanding technical roles, including rail and utility work.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Presenting a unified corporate identity is vital for any professional team, and these trousers provide an excellent canvas for branding. At MyWorkwear, our Telford-based team has been specialising in garment customisation since 1976, ensuring your logo is applied with technical precision.

Embroidery is the preferred choice for a traditional, high-quality finish on company logos or staff names, usually positioned on the pocket flaps or upper leg. If you require larger, more impactful branding, our heat-applied print process offers a crisp and highly visible result. We take great care to ensure that all customisation methods used on these technical trousers are compatible with their safety certifications, maintaining the flame-resistant properties of the garment.

Use Cases

These trousers are primarily designed for workers in the petrochemical, rail, and energy sectors. They are an essential equipment choice for electricians, engineers, and site technicians who require a combination of high visibility, anti-static properties, and flame resistance. The sturdy construction also makes them highly suitable for general construction workers who need a substantial, reliable pair of trousers that won't fail in abrasive conditions.

Why MyWorkwear

MyWorkwear is a UK-based company with a heritage of expertise dating back to 1976. Based in Telford, we pride ourselves on our deep understanding of technical workwear and our commitment to quality. When you order from us, you are drawing on decades of experience in the workwear industry, ensuring that your protective equipment is handled by experts who understand the importance of both safety and style.

Practical Advice

Given the technical nature of the fabric, we recommend checking your measurements carefully to ensure the kneepad pockets sit at the correct height for your leg length. If you plan to wear thermal base layers during winter months, you may find that the stretch panels provide enough flexibility for your usual size, but those preferring a looser fit may wish to consider this when ordering. The multiway pockets are designed for easy access, so we suggest keeping your most frequently used tools in the thigh pocket for maximum efficiency.

Caring for your product

To ensure your trousers continue to provide the highest level of protection and visibility, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C. Using a normal washing process at this temperature helps to remove work-related grime without compromising the integrity of the synthetic and natural fibre blend.

Under no circumstances should you use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will chemically degrade the flame-resistant fibres and cause the high-visibility orange pigment to fade, which would eventually render the trousers non-compliant with safety standards.

Tumble drying should be performed on a low heat setting only. Excessive heat in the dryer can lead to unnecessary shrinkage and may damage the reflective tape. When ironing, ensure the soleplate temperature does not exceed 110°C, and avoid direct contact with the reflective strips to prevent melting or peeling.

Finally, do not dry clean this garment. The harsh chemicals used in dry cleaning processes can interfere with the fabric's technical properties and dull the high-visibility finish, reducing your safety on site.
