Product Overview

The S603 Packable Overhead Jacket is a purposefully engineered solution for professionals who require reliable protection against unpredictable British weather without the bulk of a traditional heavy coat. Part of our All Weather Protection range, this jacket prioritises practicality and durability. Its most notable attribute is the ability to be neatly compressed and stored within its own pocket, ensuring that a foul-weather barrier is always close at hand when the clouds eventually break.

Key Features

  • Integrated Packable Design: The jacket is designed to fold into its own pocket, allowing for compact storage in tool bags or vehicle glove compartments until needed.
  • PU Coated Polyester Fabric: The external shell is treated with a Polyurethane coating, which provides a robust barrier against wind and rain to keep the wearer dry in adverse conditions.
  • Overhead Styling: The overhead configuration reduces the number of entry points for wind and water, enhancing the garment's protective capabilities compared to traditional zip-front alternatives.
  • Exceptional Value: Engineered to provide professional-grade protection at a price point that makes it accessible for large teams or as a secondary 'emergency' layer.

Design & Performance

Constructed from a lightweight 190T polyester weave, this jacket offers a sophisticated balance between weight and strength. The PU coating is applied to the interior of the fabric, creating a resilient membrane that repels water while remaining flexible enough to be folded repeatedly without cracking. This medium-to-lightweight fabric ensures that the wearer does not overheat during physical exertion, making it a preferred choice for active outdoor tasks. The fit is generous enough to accommodate underlayers, while the design focuses on minimising weight to ensure maximum portability.

Why No Customisation?

We do not offer customisation on this specific overhead jacket to preserve its technical integrity. The lightweight fabric and PU coating are designed specifically for water resistance and packability; traditional embroidery would puncture the waterproof membrane, while the heat required for transfers could potentially compromise the synthetic coating. To ensure the jacket performs exactly as intended in a downpour, we provide it as a standalone, non-branded protective layer.

Use Cases

This garment is ideal for tradespeople who move frequently between indoor and outdoor environments, such as surveyors, site managers, or delivery drivers. It serves as an excellent 'just-in-case' layer for outdoor events, agricultural work, or any professional setting where sudden foul weather is a constant risk but a heavy jacket would be impractical.

Practical Advice

As this is an overhead jacket, we recommend considering your typical layering system. If you intend to wear this over a thick sweatshirt or fleece, you may find that opting for a size larger than your standard shirt size provides better ease of movement when pulling the garment on or off in a hurry.

Caring for your product

To maintain the water-resistant properties of the PU coating, it is essential to follow the care instructions precisely. A domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C using a mild process is recommended. High temperatures or aggressive cycles can degrade the polyester fibres and the protective coating over time.

Do not use bleach, as this will chemically damage the synthetic structure of the jacket, leading to premature wear and loss of water resistance. The jacket should not be tumble dried; heat from a dryer can cause the PU coating to melt or peel. Instead, we recommend drip line drying, which allows the jacket to regain its shape naturally without thermal stress.

Ironing and dry cleaning must be strictly avoided. The high heat of an iron will instantly damage the fabric, and the chemicals used in dry cleaning are too abrasive for the waterproof treatment. By following these simple steps, you ensure the jacket remains a reliable shield against the elements for many seasons.
