Product Overview
The CS23 Multiway Balaclava is a versatile and essential addition to any outdoor worker's kit, specifically engineered to provide adaptable protection against the elements. Part of our All Weather Protection range, this garment is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing the wearer to adjust their level of coverage as conditions change throughout the working day. Constructed from a high-performance blend of polyester and elastane, it offers a secure, streamlined fit that moves with you, rather than against you.
Key Features
- Multi-functional Design: The flexible construction allows the balaclava to be worn in several configurations, ensuring you can adapt to varying temperatures and wind conditions instantly.
- High-Stretch Fabric: The inclusion of elastane provides a tight, ergonomic fit to the head, which is essential for maintaining warmth and ensuring the garment stays in place during physical activity.
- Breathable Mouthguard: Integrated perforated holes at the mouth area facilitate easy breathing and reduce moisture build-up, preventing the damp discomfort often associated with traditional face coverings.
- Contrast Detailing: The use of 100% polyester contrast fabric in key areas ensures structural integrity and adds a professional aesthetic to the accessory.
Design & Performance
Performance in the field relies heavily on fabric composition. This balaclava utilizes a medium-weight blend of 92% polyester and 8% elastane. This specific ratio ensures the garment is resilient enough for daily trade use while providing the necessary four-way stretch for comfort. The polyester base is excellent at managing moisture, while the elastane ensures the balaclava retains its shape after repeated stretching and washing. The tight fit is specifically designed to minimize bulk, making it an ideal base layer under other headgear or safety equipment.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
Despite its flexible nature, the CS23 Balaclava is well-suited for professional branding. At MyWorkwear, we recommend embroidery for small, high-quality company logos or staff names, providing a durable and professional appearance that stands up to the rigours of the job. For larger, more vibrant branding, our print processes offer a sharp finish that remains visible even in demanding environments.
All customisation is carried out by our expert in-house team at our facility in Telford. Having been established in 1976, we have decades of experience in ensuring your branding is applied with precision, maintaining the technical integrity of the fabric while promoting your business.
Use Cases
This balaclava is particularly effective for tradespeople working in exposed environments, such as construction, agriculture, or utility maintenance. It is also an excellent choice for workers in cold storage facilities or those who require facial protection while operating open-cab machinery. Its low-profile design makes it suitable for wearers who also need to use safety helmets or ear defenders.

Practical Advice
When wearing this balaclava under a hard hat or safety helmet, ensure the fabric is smoothed out to avoid pressure points. Because of the high elastane content, the garment is designed to be 'one size fits most,' but we recommend a trial fit if you intend to wear it over other bulky thermal headwear. It is best used as a primary base layer against the skin for maximum thermal efficiency.
Caring for your product
To maintain the elasticity and technical performance of the polyester-elastane blend, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 30°C using a mild process. Washing at higher temperatures can damage the elastane fibres, leading to a loss of shape and fit over time.
Do not use bleach, as this will degrade the fabric structure and cause the black colour to fade prematurely. This garment should not be tumble dried; instead, we advise line drying in the shade. Excessive heat from a tumble dryer can melt the synthetic fibres and ruin the breathable perforations.
Ironing is strictly not recommended. The fabric is naturally crease-resistant, and the high heat of an iron will cause permanent damage to the synthetic material. Finally, do not dry clean this item, as the harsh chemicals used in the process can strip the fabric of its soft-touch finish.
