Product Overview

The Harrow Chefs Trousers are an essential component for any culinary professional's uniform, designed to provide a balance of comfort and practical utility in high-pressure kitchen environments. These trousers feature a classic Houndstooth pattern, a traditional aesthetic in the catering industry that serves the dual purpose of maintaining a professional appearance while cleverly concealing minor splashes that occur during service.

Constructed with a half-elasticated back waist, these trousers adapt to the movement of the wearer, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit throughout long shifts. The inclusion of side pockets and a dedicated back pocket ensures that personal items are always within reach, making these a functional choice for busy professionals in the food industry.

Key Features
  • Half-Elasticated Back Waist: This design feature provides a flexible and snug fit that moves with you, preventing the discomfort often associated with rigid waistbands during active work.
  • Side and Back Pockets: Convenient storage options allow you to keep essential tools or personal belongings securely on your person at all times.
  • Texpel Finish: This specialized fabric treatment helps to repel liquids and dirt, ensuring the garment stays cleaner for longer in demanding kitchen settings.
  • Kingsmill Polycotton Fabric: A blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton offers the perfect combination of durability and breathability, essential for maintaining comfort in hot environments.

Design & Performance

The technical engineering of the Harrow Chefs Trousers focuses on the demands of the modern kitchen. The fabric is a lightweight Kingsmill Polycotton blend, specifically chosen for its ability to withstand frequent laundering while retaining its shape and colour. The Texpel finish is a significant performance advantage, acting as a barrier against spills and stains, which is vital for maintaining hygiene and presentation standards.

Despite the lightweight nature of the fabric, the 65% polyester content ensures high tensile strength and resistance to the typical wear and tear experienced by chefs, bakers, and butchers. The 35% cotton content provides the necessary breathability, helping to regulate body temperature near ovens and grills.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

At MyWorkwear, we offer professional customisation services to help your team present a unified brand image. These trousers are suitable for both embroidery and print, though each serves a different purpose. Embroidery provides a distinguished, textured finish ideal for company logos or staff names, offering a high-end professional appearance that withstands industrial washing.

Print is an excellent alternative for larger, bolder designs or promotional messaging. Our in-house production team in Telford has been perfecting these techniques since 1976, ensuring that every garment leaving our facility meets our rigorous quality standards.

Use Cases

These trousers are engineered for professionals across the food and hospitality sectors. They are particularly well-suited for executive chefs and kitchen staff who require comfort during extended periods of standing. Furthermore, their professional appearance and durable construction make them an ideal choice for bakers, butchers, and catering students who need a reliable uniform that can handle daily rigours.

Why MyWorkwear

Choosing MyWorkwear means partnering with a company that has nearly half a century of expertise. Since 1976, we have been providing high-quality workwear solutions from our base in Telford. Our deep understanding of fabric performance and customisation ensures that your garments are not just clothing, but an investment in your business's professional identity.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, consider the half-elasticated back which provides some flexibility in the fit. For those working in particularly high-heat environments, we recommend wearing these with a breathable cotton base layer to maximise comfort. If you are opting for custom embroidery, we suggest placing logos on the pocket area for maximum visibility and a professional finish.

Caring for your product

Maintaining the integrity of your workwear is essential for long-term performance. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Exceeding this temperature may compromise the Texpel finish and the polyester fibres, leading to premature wear.

Do not use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will degrade the fabric structure and cause the Houndstooth pattern to fade significantly, undermining the professional appearance of the trousers.

When drying, use a low tumble dry setting. High heat in the dryer can lead to shrinkage and may damage any applied customisation. For ironing, ensure the temperature does not exceed 150°C to avoid scorching the synthetic fibres.

For deep cleaning, these trousers are suitable for professional dry cleaning using Tetrachloroethene, which can help remove stubborn grease stains common in kitchen environments without damaging the fabric.
