Product Overview
The ES1 Essential Combat Trouser is a mainstay of the modern workplace, blending a contemporary silhouette with the uncompromising durability required for manual labour. These trousers are designed to be scratch-free, making them particularly suitable for environments where protecting sensitive surfaces is as important as personal protection. Constructed from high-performance Kingsmill fabric, they are engineered to provide a reliable service life even when subjected to the daily rigours of a busy site or workshop.
Key Features
- Multiple utility pockets equipped with secure hook and loop flaps provide reliable storage for tools and personal items, ensuring they remain in place while you move.
- The scratch-free design ensures that exposed metal components are minimised, reducing the risk of accidental damage to paintwork or delicate equipment.
- Pre-shrunk Kingsmill fabric ensures that the garment maintains its original shape and fit even after repeated laundering.
- Reinforced construction throughout the garment provides the rugged durability needed to withstand the toughest tasks without premature wear.
Design & Performance
At the heart of these trousers is the Kingsmill Polycotton fabric, a blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This specific composition is chosen for its balance of breathability and sheer resilience. The polyester content ensures the trousers can withstand heavy abrasion and maintain their colour over time, while the cotton provides the necessary comfort for all-day wear. As a medium-weight garment, it offers a substantial feel without becoming cumbersome during active movement.
The fabric is fully pre-shrunk and features superior dye retention. This means that even in high-heat environments or after heavy industrial use, the black finish remains deep and professional, rather than fading to an unsightly grey. The "scratch-free" specification is a thoughtful design choice for tradespeople working in automotive or high-end fit-out sectors, where a stray button or zip could cause costly damage.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The ES1 Essential Combat Trouser provides an excellent canvas for corporate branding. For a truly professional appearance, we recommend embroidery. Our in-house team uses high-quality threads to recreate company logos or employee names, providing a durable and professional finish that withstands the same tough conditions as the trousers themselves.
If your branding requirements involve larger, more vibrant graphics—perhaps for a specific project or promotional event—print is an effective alternative. Regardless of the method chosen, our expert team in Telford, who have been perfecting these techniques since 1976, manages the entire process to ensure your workwear arrives looking precisely as intended.
Use Cases
These trousers are an essential choice for professionals across various sectors. They are particularly well-suited for automotive technicians, warehouse staff, and site workers who require functional storage and a durable fabric. The scratch-free nature also makes them ideal for assembly line workers and installers working in domestic or commercial interiors where surface protection is paramount.

Practical Advice
As these trousers are crafted from pre-shrunk fabric, you can expect a consistent fit from the first day to the last. For those working in colder environments, the generous combat fit allows for the easy addition of thermal base layers without restricting movement. We recommend checking our sizing guide to ensure the best fit for your specific waist and leg measurements.
Caring for your product
To maintain the structural integrity and professional appearance of your trousers, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Exceeding this temperature may damage the polyester fibres and lead to premature wear of the fabric.
You must not use bleach on this garment. Chlorine-based cleaners will strip the dye and weaken the fabric's tensile strength, significantly shortening the lifespan of the trousers.
While these trousers can be tumble dried on a normal setting, we suggest drip line drying where possible to maintain the garment's crisp shape. If ironing is required, use a maximum soleplate temperature of 150°C to avoid scorching the material. For persistent stains, the garment is also suitable for professional dry cleaning using tetrachloroethene.
