Product Overview

The Aluflame Work Molten Metal FR Trousers are a specialised solution for professionals operating in high-heat industrial sectors. Specifically developed to withstand the extreme conditions of aluminium, iron, and steel works, these trousers are more than just a piece of uniform; they are a critical component of personal protective equipment. The fabric used is inherently flame resistant, meaning the safety properties are built directly into the fibres and will not diminish over time or through repeated laundering.

Key Features

  • Inherent Flame Resistance: The protective properties are permanent, ensuring that safety standards are maintained throughout the entire lifespan of the trousers.
  • Complex Fabric Blend: Utilising a sophisticated mix of cotton, viscose, and high-performance synthetics, these trousers balance comfort with high-level thermal protection.
  • Static Control: The inclusion of carbon fibre provides essential anti-static properties, which is vital when working in volatile industrial environments.
  • Enhanced Durability: Incorporating para-aramid fibres ensures the fabric remains resilient against the physical rigours of heavy industry, reducing the frequency of replacements.

Design & Performance

Performance in a foundry setting requires a fabric that is both sturdy and reliable. These trousers are crafted from a substantial, heavyweight Aluflame material, comprising 43% Cotton, 30% Viscose, 20% Acrylic, 6% Para Aramid, and 1% Carbon Fibre. This specific composition is designed to offer maximum protection against molten metal splashes while remaining breathable enough for long shifts.

The addition of para-aramid is a deliberate choice for structural integrity, while the carbon fibre acts as a safeguard against electrostatic discharge. Despite their robust nature, the high cotton and viscose content ensures the wearer remains comfortable, which is no small feat when working near a furnace.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Adding your company branding to high-specification safety gear requires an expert touch. Embroidery is highly recommended for these trousers, providing a professional, long-lasting finish for company logos or staff names that can withstand the heat of the workplace. For larger identification marks, high-quality printing is also an option.

All customisation is carried out by our experienced in-house team at our Telford facility. MyWorkwear has been refining these processes since 1976, ensuring that your branding is applied without compromising the technical integrity of the flame-resistant fabric.

Use Cases

These trousers are primarily designed for personnel working in aluminium smelting, iron foundries, and steel mills. They are equally suited for any role where there is a significant risk of contact with molten metal or radiant heat. If your daily routine involves standing in close proximity to molten materials, this well-engineered garment is essential equipment.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, consider the need for ease of movement; work trousers that are too tight can restrict mobility, while excessively loose garments can become a snagging hazard in a factory environment. For complete protection, these trousers should be worn as part of a full flame-resistant system, including a compatible jacket and appropriate base layers.

Caring for your product

To ensure these trousers continue to provide the highest level of protection, they must be laundered correctly. We recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Using a normal process at this temperature helps to effectively remove industrial oils and contaminants without damaging the structural integrity of the inherent fibres.

Do not use bleach under any circumstances. Bleaching agents can cause significant damage to the technical fibres and may compromise the flame-resistant performance of the garment. For drying, use a low-heat tumble dry setting. High heat during drying can lead to unnecessary shrinkage, affecting the fit and comfort of the trousers.

If ironing is required, please ensure the iron temperature does not exceed 150°C. This prevents heat damage to the synthetic components of the blend. Finally, these trousers should not be dry cleaned, as the chemicals used in that process can interfere with the fabric's specialised protective properties.
