Product Overview

The DX4 Winter Trousers are a sophisticated piece of technical workwear designed for the modern tradesperson who requires versatility in unpredictable environments. Part of our All Weather Protection range, these trousers feature a cleverly engineered detachable bib system. By using the integrated zip-off function, the garment can be converted from a high-performance winter bib into standard trousers, offering unparalleled flexibility depending on the task at hand or the ambient temperature.

Key Features
  • The zip-off bib at the back allows for immediate customisation of the garment's profile, providing either full torso coverage for extreme cold or a standard trouser fit for milder conditions.
  • Pre-bent, top-loading adjustable knee pad pockets are designed to align perfectly with your movements, ensuring that protection remains securely in place during frequent kneeling and lifting.
  • Multi-functional zip thigh pockets provide secure storage for essential equipment like mobile phones and tools, keeping them protected from the elements yet easily accessible.
  • Constructed from Portwest Extreme Waterproof fabric, these trousers offer a high level of protection against moisture while the stain-resistant finish helps maintain a professional appearance over time.

Design & Performance

The primary fabric is a robust 300D Stretch Oxford polyester, which offers the rare combination of heavy-duty durability and the flexibility needed for active work. The inclusion of a PU membrane ensures the trousers are waterproof, while the internal InsulatexPro filling provides substantial thermal insulation. This filling is designed to trap heat effectively without adding unnecessary bulk, ensuring you remain warm without your movement being restricted.

The lining is a smooth 100% polyester, allowing the trousers to slide easily over base layers, reducing friction and enhancing comfort throughout a long shift. The ergonomic pre-bent knees further reduce fabric bunching, which is a common issue with traditional heavy-duty winter trousers.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

To ensure your team presents a unified and professional image, these trousers are suitable for both print and embroidery. Embroidery is particularly effective on the bib or thigh pockets for company logos and individual names, providing a high-quality, textured finish that withstands the rigours of industrial use.

For larger, more vibrant branding, our printing services offer a crisp and clean alternative. Every piece of customisation is handled by our expert in-house team in Telford. Having been established since 1976, we have the technical expertise to apply your branding without compromising the waterproof integrity of the technical fabrics.

Use Cases

These trousers are ideally suited for outdoor construction, civil engineering, and site management during the winter months. They are also an excellent choice for workers in unheated warehouses or cold storage facilities who require a durable garment that provides constant warmth and the option to adjust their layering throughout the day.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, please consider the layers you intend to wear underneath. As these trousers are insulated, you may find that a slightly more relaxed fit allows for better airflow and comfort if paired with heavy thermal leggings. We recommend using our compatible knee pads in the designated pockets to ensure maximum protection and comfort during site work.

Caring for your product

To preserve the waterproof PU membrane and the stain-resistant finish of your DX4 trousers, we recommend a domestic wash at no more than 40°C. Washing at higher temperatures can degrade the technical coatings and impact the longevity of the garment's performance.

Do not use bleaching agents, as these will weaken the polyester fibres and lead to premature wear and colour loss. It is also essential that these trousers are not tumble dried; the heat from a dryer can melt the synthetic filling and warp the waterproof outer shell. Instead, we recommend that you drip line dry the garment.

Ironing should be avoided entirely to prevent damage to the technical fabrics and any applied customisation. Similarly, do not dry clean this product, as the chemical solvents used in the process can strip the protective finishes from the 300D Oxford fabric.
