Product Overview
The Chef's Suffolk Jacket L/S is a meticulously designed garment tailored for the rigours of the modern professional kitchen. Recognising the demands placed upon culinary staff, this jacket combines a professional aesthetic with practical functionality, ensuring you remain composed and comfortable during even the most intensive shifts.
Key Features
- The integrated stud closure system allows for rapid dressing and removal, providing a practical solution for busy kitchen environments where time and safety are of the essence.
- Constructed with a pre-shrunk fabric, the jacket maintains its original fit and proportions through repeated laundering, ensuring long-term value and a consistent professional appearance.
- The material boasts superior dye retention, which prevents the deep black colour from fading, even after exposure to the high temperatures and frequent washing cycles typical of the food industry.
- Designed for ease of movement, the cut of the jacket allows for unrestricted motion, which is vital when navigating a fast-paced kitchen or handling heavy equipment.
Design & Performance
This jacket is engineered from Kingsmill Polycotton, a high-performance blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. This fabric selection offers the best of both worlds: the durability and crease-resistance of polyester combined with the natural breathability and comfort of cotton. The lightweight nature of the fabric ensures the wearer feels fresh and comfortable, preventing heat build-up in the kitchen.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Suffolk jacket serves as an ideal canvas for customisation. For a truly professional appearance, we recommend embroidery for establishment logos or individual names; it provides a durable, high-quality finish that withstands the heat of the kitchen. Alternatively, for larger, more striking branding, our high-definition printing is an excellent choice. All customisation is handled in-house at our Telford facility by a team with expertise stretching back to 1976, ensuring your brand is represented with precision.
Use Cases
This garment is specifically suited for various roles within the hospitality and food sectors. While it is a staple for chefs, its durable and smart design also makes it appropriate for bakers, butchers, and kitchen assistants. It is equally well-suited for catering teams and front-of-house staff in restaurants, bars, and hotels who require a uniform that is both functional and presentable.

Practical Advice
The Suffolk jacket is designed to be worn over lightweight base layers. When selecting your size, consider that a slightly more generous fit may be beneficial if your role involves significant reaching or lifting. The long sleeves provide extra protection, but can be easily rolled up should the kitchen environment become particularly demanding.
Caring for your product
To ensure the longevity of your garment and maintain peak hygiene standards, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Washing at this temperature effectively removes food-based oils and bacteria without compromising the integrity of the Kingsmill fabric.
Do not use bleach on this jacket. Chlorine and other bleaching agents will destroy the dye retention properties and weaken the polycotton fibres, leading to premature thinning of the material and loss of colour.
For drying, a low-heat tumble dry is recommended. High heat in the dryer can cause the fabric to become brittle over time. If ironing is required to maintain a crisp, professional look, use a maximum iron temperature of 150°C. For those who prefer a specialist service, this jacket is also suitable for professional dry cleaning using Tetrachloroethene.
