Product Overview
The Grand Canyon Trainer, also known as the Tulum, is a sophisticated safety shoe from the Base Record collection that seamlessly blends environmental responsibility with high-level technical protection. This low-profile trainer is constructed using recycled fabrics, offering a sustainable alternative for the modern workplace without sacrificing the safety standards your role demands. Designed for professionals who are constantly on the move, it provides a well-balanced and sturdy feel that supports the foot throughout the longest shifts.
Key Features
The SlimCap toe-cap provides essential protection against up to 200 joules of impact, ensuring your feet are shielded from falling objects while maintaining a lighter, less bulky profile than traditional steel versions.
Equipped with a Fresh'n Flex WeAreEco puncture-resistant fabric insole, these trainers prevent sharp objects from penetrating the sole, offering peace of mind on sites where debris is a common hazard.
Integrated electronic device protection (ESD) ensures that electrostatic discharges are safely dissipated, making these trainers suitable for sensitive environments where static could damage equipment.
The SmellStop WeareEco lining incorporates permanent anti-odour protection, which actively prevents the growth of bacteria to keep your footwear hygienic and fresh even after intensive use.
Hydrocarbon resistant and anti-static properties provide a versatile safety profile for various industrial settings, ensuring the integrity of the shoe isn't compromised by chemical exposure.
Design & Performance
Performance is at the heart of the Grand Canyon Trainer’s design. It features an anti-fatigue AirTech and Tpu-Skin sole system which works to reduce the thickness of the outsole. This allows for greater cushioning and flexibility, which effectively absorbs shock and reduces the strain on your legs and lower back. The inclusion of the Dry'n Air WeAreEco footbed further enhances comfort by promoting constant air circulation, which prevents moisture from pooling and keeps the foot cool and dry.
Durability is ensured through the use of high-quality recycled fabrics that are built to withstand the rigours of daily wear. Furthermore, the SRC-rated slip-resistant outsole provides the highest level of grip on both ceramic and steel surfaces, reducing the risk of slips and trips in unpredictable environments. Being entirely metal-free, these trainers are also ideal for workplaces with security scanners or where non-conductive footwear is required.
Why No Customisation?
We provide these safety trainers in their original form to ensure they remain fully compliant with the EN ISO 20345:2022 safety standard. Applying custom embroidery or heat transfers to the recycled fabric could potentially damage the technical fibres or interfere with the ESD properties of the shoe. By keeping the product as-is, we guarantee that the protective features and certifications remain intact for your safety.
Use Cases
These trainers are particularly suited for workers in the electronics manufacturing sector, logistics, and light industrial environments. Because they offer ESD protection and significant anti-fatigue benefits, they are the preferred choice for warehouse operatives who spend much of their day walking on hard surfaces. Their professional black finish also makes them appropriate for supervisors who transition between the office and the production floor.

Practical Advice
The Grand Canyon Trainer is designed to accommodate both men’s and women’s widths, ensuring a comfortable fit for all staff members. If you require additional support, these trainers are compatible with orthopaedic made-to-measure footbeds that comply with European DGUV112-191 norms. We suggest pairing these with high-quality moisture-wicking socks to get the most out of the Dry'n Air circulation system.
Caring for your product
To ensure your trainers continue to perform at their best, it is important to clean them regularly. Use a soft brush or a damp cloth to remove dust and grit from the recycled fabric uppers. Allowing dirt to build up can lead to the fabric becoming stiff or abrasive, which may eventually cause premature wear and reduce the effectiveness of the breathable lining.
If your footwear becomes wet, always allow it to dry naturally in a room with good airflow. Avoid placing the shoes directly against heat sources such as radiators or heaters, as excessive heat can cause the Tpu-Skin to dry out and crack, or weaken the bonds within the sole unit. Finally, ensure the outsoles are kept clear of debris to maintain the integrity of the SRC slip resistance.
