Product Overview

The Aluflame Work Molten Metal FR Jacket (FR65) is a sophisticated piece of personal protective equipment designed specifically for the rigorous demands of the aluminium, iron, and steel industries. Where lesser garments might falter, this jacket provides a robust barrier against thermal hazards. The core of its performance lies in the inherent fabric blend, meaning the protective qualities are built into the fibres themselves rather than being a temporary surface treatment. It is a substantial garment that prioritises safety without treating the wearer like a piece of industrial machinery.

Key Features
  • Inherent flame resistance: The protective properties are permanent and will not diminish after multiple laundry cycles, ensuring long-term safety and value.
  • Molten metal splash protection: Specially engineered to shed molten droplets, this jacket significantly reduces the risk of burn injuries in foundry environments.
  • Anti-static carbon fibre: The inclusion of 1% carbon fibre helps dissipate static electricity, a vital feature for safety in volatile atmospheric conditions.
  • Breathable comfort blend: By mixing cotton and viscose with high-performance aramids, the fabric allows for moisture management and comfort during long shifts in high-heat areas.

Design & Performance

Constructed from a technical blend of 43% Cotton, 30% Viscose, 20% Acrylic, 6% Para Aramid, and 1% Carbon Fibre, this jacket is robustly weighted to provide a heavy-duty shield against extreme heat. The Para Aramid components provide exceptional tensile strength, ensuring the garment remains intact even under mechanical stress, while the cotton and viscose elements ensure it remains wearable and soft against the skin.

The performance of the Aluflame fabric is specifically tailored to the unique heat signatures of molten metal works. It is a well-engineered garment that balances the density required for protection with the flexibility needed for manual tasks. The regular fit ensures that the jacket provides ample coverage without restricting the wearer's range of motion.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Maintaining a professional appearance in heavy industry is entirely possible with our customisation options. For a superior, professional finish that reflects your company's standards, we recommend embroidery for logos and staff names. The substantial weight of the Aluflame fabric provides an excellent foundation for high-density stitching that will last the life of the garment.

For larger branding or safety messaging on the rear of the jacket, our heat-applied printing services offer a bold and clear solution. All customisation is carried out at our Telford facility by a team that has been perfecting the craft since 1976. We ensure that all branding is applied with the same attention to detail that went into the garment's construction.

Use Cases

This jacket is essential equipment for professionals working in aluminium smelting, iron works, and steel foundries. It is also highly suitable for industrial welders and furnace operators who require consistent protection against radiant heat and potential metal splashes.

Why MyWorkwear

MyWorkwear has been a trusted partner to British industry since 1976. Based in Telford, we combine decades of technical expertise with modern customisation techniques. When you choose a high-specification garment like the FR65, you are benefiting from nearly fifty years of experience in providing reliable, professional workwear that stands up to the job.

Practical Advice

For the most effective protection, we advise wearing this jacket as part of a complete flame-resistant system. Ensure that it is correctly fastened at all times to prevent molten metal from entering through the front. If you are working in particularly cold environments, it can be layered with flame-resistant base layers without compromising safety.

Caring for your product

To maintain the integrity of the Aluflame fabric and ensure your custom branding remains in top condition, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Regular cleaning is vital, as the accumulation of oils or flammable dust on the surface of the jacket can seriously undermine its flame-resistant properties.

Do not use bleaching agents under any circumstances. Bleach will chemically damage the technical fibres and can significantly reduce the protective capabilities of the garment, essentially turning a safety jacket into a standard one.

Tumble drying should be performed on a low-heat setting. Excessive heat in the dryer can cause unnecessary shrinkage and may stress the carbon and aramid fibres. If ironing is necessary to maintain a professional appearance, use a maximum sole-plate temperature of 150°C to avoid damaging the synthetic components of the blend.

This garment must not be dry cleaned. The harsh chemical solvents used in dry cleaning processes are incompatible with the inherent fibres and could compromise the safety standards of the jacket.
