Product Overview

The Craghoppers Richmond stretch workwear jacket is a substantial, heavyweight outer layer engineered for those who refuse to let the British weather dictate their work schedule. Built with a focus on durability and environmental responsibility, this jacket utilises Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified fabrics without compromising on technical performance. It combines a rugged ripstop exterior with a sophisticated internal membrane, ensuring that professional tradespeople remain dry and comfortable during demanding shifts.

Key Features

  • EN343-3.3 Certification: This garment meets rigorous European standards for waterproofness and breathability, ensuring you remain protected in heavy downpours while allowing moisture to escape.
  • AquaDry Membrane and H2OShield DWR: Dual-layer protection stops rain at the surface and prevents water ingress, keeping your internal layers perfectly dry.
  • High-Reach Design: Specially tailored for active work, this construction allows for overhead movement and reaching without the jacket riding up or restricting your range of motion.
  • Integrated Pit Zips: Underarm ventilation allows for rapid heat regulation, which is essential when transitioning between heavy physical labour and periods of standing.
  • Odour-Control Patches: Strategically placed patches help maintain freshness throughout the day, a practical addition for long shifts in high-intensity environments.

Design & Performance

The Richmond jacket is constructed from a robust recycled polyester stretch ripstop. The ripstop weave is specifically designed to stop small tears from spreading, which is a common hazard on active sites. Performance is further enhanced by a TPU membrane and a polyester-elastane stretch mesh lining, which moves with the wearer rather than resisting them.

Every detail has been considered, from the recycled zip tapes to the smooth taffeta lining that ensures the jacket slides easily over mid-layers. The substantial weight of the garment provides a reassuring sense of protection, making it a reliable shield against wind and rain in exposed locations.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

This jacket is an excellent candidate for both print and embroidery, allowing you to align your team's appearance with your brand identity. For a sophisticated and enduring finish, we recommend embroidery for company logos and staff names; our high-quality threads stand up well to the rigours of the workplace and maintain their professional appearance over time.

If you require large, bold graphics or high-visibility branding on the back of the jacket, our printing processes offer crisp detail and vibrant colour. All customisation is handled at our Telford facility by our expert team, who have been perfecting workwear branding since 1976.

Use Cases

This jacket is ideally suited for site managers, surveyors, and tradespeople who spend significant portions of their day outdoors. Given its rugged construction and professional aesthetic, it is equally appropriate for client meetings in the field as it is for active work on a construction site. It is particularly effective for those working in sectors where mobility and weather protection are equally prioritised.

Practical Advice

The Richmond jacket features a stretch construction, but it is important to select the correct size to allow for layering. When measuring, please refer to the chest size guide; for example, a Large is designed to fit a 43-inch chest. If you intend to wear a heavy fleece or padded gilet underneath during winter, you may wish to consider how the fit will accommodate these additional layers.

Caring for your product

To maintain the technical integrity of the AquaDry membrane and the H2OShield DWR finish, we recommend a machine wash at 30°C. Washing at higher temperatures can damage the waterproof bond and reduce the lifespan of the garment.

It is vital that you do not use bleach, water softeners, or fabric conditioners. These chemicals can clog the pores of the breathable membrane and strip away the water-repellent coating, effectively turning a waterproof jacket into a sponge. Always wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer.

Finally, do not tumble dry this jacket. High heat can cause the recycled polyester and TPU membrane to warp or delaminate. Air drying is the safest method to ensure the jacket retains its shape and protective properties for the long term.
