Product Overview
The Yoko Kids hi-vis 2-band tabard is a fundamental piece of safety equipment designed specifically for younger wearers. Engineered to provide high visibility in a variety of environments, this tabard ensures that children remain conspicuous to motorists and supervisors alike. Whether for educational excursions, cycling, or helping with domestic tasks, this garment prioritises safety without compromising on ease of movement.
Key Features
- EN1150:1999 Compliance: This certification ensures the garment meets specific safety standards for high-visibility clothing intended for non-professional use, providing parents and teachers with peace of mind regarding its performance.
- Dual Reflective Bands: Two 50mm width reflective tapes encircle the body, significantly enhancing visibility in low-light conditions by reflecting light back to its source.
- Side Elastication and Press Button: This design feature allows for a secure yet flexible fit, ensuring the tabard stays in place during physical activity while remaining easy for a child to put on or take off independently.
- Large Decoration Area: The expansive front and rear panels are purposefully designed to accommodate substantial branding or identification markings.
Design & Performance
Constructed from 100% polyester, this tabard is composed of a lightweight fabric that is both breathable and resilient. The material is chosen for its ability to hold the high-visibility pigment effectively while remaining comfortable enough for extended wear over standard clothing. The inclusion of elasticated sides means the garment can accommodate different body shapes and thicknesses of under-layers, making it a versatile addition to a school or club safety uniform.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
The Yoko YK101 is an excellent canvas for customisation, which we handle entirely in-house at our Telford facility. For a sophisticated and enduring finish, embroidery is the preferred choice for school crests or individual names, providing a textured, professional appearance that withstands regular use. For larger, high-impact designs such as event names or group numbering, our printing services offer a crisp, bold finish that ensures your message is visible from a distance. Our team, drawing on decades of experience since 1976, ensures every logo is applied with technical precision.
Use Cases
This tabard is ideally suited for school trips where group identification and safety are paramount. It is equally effective for children cycling to school, walking the dog during winter evenings, or participating in outdoor sports clubs. Its simple design also makes it a practical choice for 'little helpers' involved in home DIY projects where visibility is required.

Practical Advice
This garment is provided in a single size designed to fit most children. We recommend considering the thickness of the clothing to be worn underneath; the elasticated side tabs are designed to stretch over winter coats, but for very small children, the press buttons ensure it remains tidy rather than restrictive. For the best visual impact, we suggest placing larger text-based designs on the rear panel and logos on the front left chest area.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility properties and the integrity of any custom branding, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Using a normal process will effectively remove dirt without degrading the polyester fibres or the reflective strips prematurely.
Do not use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will destroy the fluorescent dyes, rendering the tabard ineffective for safety purposes and potentially damaging the reflective tape.
This item should not be tumble dried, ironed, or dry cleaned. High heat from irons or dryers can melt the polyester fabric and the adhesive backing of reflective materials, while dry cleaning chemicals may strip the garment of its protective finish.
Please note that this garment has a maximum limit of 25 wash cycles. Exceeding this limit may result in the reflective material failing to meet the required safety standards. We advise against industrial laundering to ensure the longevity of the garment's safety features.
