Product Overview

The Uneek Clothing UC803 Hi Vis Road Safety Jacket is a high-performance outer layer engineered for those who require maximum visibility and weather protection in demanding environments. Constructed from substantial 300 Denier polyester with a PU coating, this jacket is designed to withstand the rigours of outdoor site work while keeping the wearer dry and warm. The fluorescent orange hue combined with meticulously stitched reflective strips ensures compliance with stringent safety standards, making it an essential piece of equipment for road and rail professionals.

Key Features

  • EN471 Class 3 & GO/RT 3279 Certified: This jacket meets the highest safety specifications for visibility, ensuring you remain conspicuous to motorists and operators in low-light conditions.
  • 300 Denier PU Coated Outer: The hard-wearing fabric provides a robust shield against the elements, resisting abrasions and tears common in industrial settings.
  • Waterproof Taped Seams: Every seam is sealed to prevent water ingress, ensuring you stay dry even during prolonged exposure to heavy rain.
  • Padded and Lined Construction: The internal padding provides essential thermal insulation, making this a reliable choice for winter work or night shifts.
  • Comprehensive Storage: Featuring a dedicated phone pocket on the breast, a zipped inner pocket, and two outer pockets with studded flaps to keep your tools and personal items secure and dry.
  • Concealed Hood: The hood features a drawcord and can be stowed under the collar when not in use, offering versatile protection as the weather changes.

Design & Performance

The UC803 is built for durability and functional performance. The outer 300 Denier fabric is a heavy-duty material that offers a superior balance between flexibility and rugged protection. Unlike cheaper alternatives, the two retro-reflective strips are stitched onto the body, arms, and shoulders rather than heat-pressed, ensuring they do not peel away after heavy use or repeated washing.

Internal comfort is managed by a full lining and padding, which provides warmth without excessive bulk. The inclusion of a zip-access point at the hem is a thoughtful design feature, allowing for easy embroidery without compromising the internal lining of the garment.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The UC803 is an excellent canvas for company branding. For a sophisticated and durable finish, we recommend embroidery for your company logo on the chest; our in-house team in Telford uses high-tensile threads that stand up well to the garment's heavy-duty use. For larger, high-impact branding on the back, such as company names or safety roles, heat-applied print is an effective option that maintains visibility without adding significant weight.

Our experts, who have been perfecting garment customisation since 1976, ensure that every logo is applied with precision, maintaining the professional appearance of your workforce.

Use Cases

Given its GO/RT 3279 certification, this jacket is specifically suited for the UK rail industry, but it is equally effective for motorway maintenance, construction site management, and recovery services. It is designed for any professional who operates in high-traffic areas or hazardous environments where being seen is a safety requirement.

Practical Advice

As this is a padded, substantial jacket designed to be worn over other clothing, you may wish to consider your layering needs when selecting a size. If you typically wear a heavy fleece or sweatshirt underneath, ensure there is sufficient room for movement, particularly across the shoulders and arms. Always ensure the jacket is zipped up fully in high-risk areas to maintain the Class 3 visibility rating.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-visibility properties of the fabric and the integrity of the PU coating, we recommend a domestic wash at 40°C. Exceeding this temperature can damage the waterproof lining and cause the reflective tapes to lose their luminosity over time.

This garment is certified for up to 25 washes. Beyond this point, while the jacket may still be functional as a coat, the retro-reflective performance may diminish below the required safety standards. Avoid using biological detergents or bleach, as these chemical agents can break down the polyester fibres and the waterproof coating.

Air drying is recommended. Do not tumble dry or iron this jacket, as high heat will melt the PU coating and damage the reflective strips, rendering the safety features ineffective.
