Product Overview

The Tee Jays Sof tee is a foundational piece of workwear that has stood the test of time, having been produced for nearly five decades. This heavyweight t-shirt is engineered for those who require a substantial garment that maintains its integrity through the rigours of a demanding working week. Combining long-fibre ringspun cotton with technical treatments, it offers a level of refinement and durability that is essential for a professional uniform.

Key Features

  • Two-Layer Elastane Collar: The neck rib is constructed with a double layer and infused with elastane, ensuring the collar retains its shape and elasticity even after repeated wear and laundering.

  • Shoulder-to-Shoulder Neck Tape: Internal taping across the neck and shoulders provides structural stability, preventing the garment from stretching out of shape during active tasks.

  • Double Pre-Shrunk Fabric: By pre-shrinking the material twice during manufacturing, we ensure that the fit you buy is the fit you keep, significantly reducing the risk of the garment shortening or tightening after its first wash.

  • Long-Fibre Combed Cotton: The use of premium ringspun cotton results in a smoother, stronger surface that is more resistant to pilling and offers a superior canvas for company branding.

Design & Performance

The performance of the Sof tee is enhanced through specialised textile finishing. It undergoes an enzyme wash to remove loose fibres and create a softer handle, while a silicone treatment provides a sleek, smooth finish. These processes do not just improve the feel against the skin; they ensure the heavyweight fabric remains comfortable throughout a long shift. The double-stitched seams provide additional reinforcement at critical stress points, making this a reliable choice for manual environments where durability is non-negotiable.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

Because of its dense, high-quality weave and smooth surface, the Sof tee is an exemplary candidate for both print and embroidery. For a formal, authoritative corporate look, we recommend embroidery for chest logos or staff names. The heavyweight nature of the fabric supports the weight of dense stitching without puckering or distorting the garment.

If your branding requires large-scale graphics or bold company names across the back, our printing processes will yield vibrant, crisp results on this smooth cotton surface. All customisation is carried out in-house by our expert team in Telford, who have been perfecting garment branding since 1976.

Use Cases

This t-shirt is ideal for business owners looking for a long-lasting uniform solution that spans from the workshop to client meetings. Its extensive size range, reaching up to 5XL, makes it a practical choice for inclusive staff outfitting. It performs transitionally as a standalone summer work top or as a sturdy base layer under sweatshirts and jackets in colder conditions.

Why MyWorkwear

Established in 1976, MyWorkwear has decades of experience in selecting garments that truly perform for the UK workforce. Based in Telford, we combine traditional expertise with modern techniques to ensure your team looks professional and stays comfortable. We understand that workwear is an investment in your brand's reputation, which is why we recommend products like the Sof tee that offer proven longevity and a superior finish.

Practical Advice

The Sof tee is a heavyweight garment, providing more structure and warmth than a standard lightweight alternative. When selecting your size, please refer to the chest measurements provided, ranging from 36 inches to 55 inches, to ensure a comfortable fit that allows for ease of movement during physical work.

Caring for your product

To maintain the structural integrity and colour of your garment, we recommend a machine wash at 60°C. This higher temperature capability is particularly beneficial for workwear, as it ensures thorough cleaning and hygiene after a heavy day on site. Always wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer from other garments.

Avoid the use of bleach, as harsh chemicals will break down the cotton fibres and cause premature wear. Similarly, this garment should not be tumble dried; air drying is essential to prevent heat damage and preserve the shape of the double-shrunk cotton.

If your t-shirt features custom printing, do not iron directly over the design. High heat can melt or distort the print, permanently damaging your company branding. Ironing on the reverse or avoiding the printed area entirely will keep your logo looking sharp for the life of the garment.
