Product Overview

The Stormtech ST228 Women’s Explorer Thermal Jacket is a high-specification outerwear solution designed for those who refuse to let the British weather dictate their schedule. This garment strikes a balance between technical outdoor performance and a refined, urban aesthetic. As part of the Pure Earth collection, it incorporates recycled polyester, providing a more responsible choice for businesses looking to reduce their environmental footprint without compromising on protection.

Engineered with a two-layer H2XTREME waterproof and breathable outer shell, this jacket is designed to keep moisture out while allowing internal vapour to escape, preventing the clammy sensation often associated with lower-quality waterproofs. The bomber-style length offers a modern silhouette that remains practical for active work environments.

Key Features
  • H2XTREME Waterproof/Breathable Shell: Provides advanced protection against heavy rain and wind while maintaining a comfortable internal climate.
  • Thermolex High Loft Synthetic Down: This insulation mimics the warmth of natural down to provide significant thermal retention in freezing conditions.
  • Thermal Reflective Lining: This specialised interior lining reflects body heat back towards the wearer, providing an extra layer of warmth without adding unnecessary bulk.
  • Articulated Elbows: These are specifically designed to mirror the natural bend of the arm, ensuring you have a full range of movement during manual tasks.
  • Insulated Hood with Face Shield: A full-coverage, adjustable hood that includes a reinforced zip-off trim and a face shield for maximum protection against driving wind and snow.
  • Multiple Internal Pockets: Includes a mesh stash pocket and a zipped chest pocket to keep sensitive electronics and personal items secure and dry.

Design & Performance

The design of the Explorer jacket focuses on durability and wearer comfort. The outer shell is a lightweight, mechanical stretch woven fabric, which allows the garment to move with the body rather than resisting it. This is particularly beneficial for professionals who are constantly on the move. The PFC-free water-repellent finish ensures that water beads off the surface effectively, maintaining the garment's breathability over time.

Internally, the jacket features a storm flap with a brushed tricot lining against the face, preventing zip-to-skin irritation. The elasticated hem and cuff trims help to seal in heat and provide a secure fit, while the zipped hand pockets are lined for extra warmth during long shifts outdoors.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The ST228 is designed with customisation in mind, featuring specific decoration access to ensure a clean finish. For a truly professional appearance, we recommend embroidery for company logos or staff names. The structured nature of the shell fabric supports high-stitch-count designs exceptionally well, providing a durable and prestigious look.

If you require large, high-impact branding across the back, our Telford-based print team can apply sharp, vibrant designs that stand out. Having handled technical garment decoration since 1976, we ensure that the application process does not compromise the jacket's waterproof integrity.

Use Cases

This jacket is ideally suited for site managers, surveyors, and corporate teams who require a uniform that performs in harsh environments while maintaining a professional 'front-of-house' appearance. Its thermal properties make it an excellent choice for outdoor event staff or transport workers operating in cold, exposed conditions.

Why MyWorkwear

At MyWorkwear, we have been perfecting the art of technical garment decoration since 1976. Operating from our specialised facility in Telford, we combine decades of expertise with the latest machinery. We understand that your workwear is an investment in your brand's identity, which is why every jacket is inspected to ensure it meets our rigorous standards before it leaves our floor.

Practical Advice

The ST228 features a tailored female fit. To ensure the best performance from the thermal reflective lining, we recommend wearing it over a moisture-wicking base layer or a lightweight mid-layer. This allows the heat-reflective technology to work efficiently without being obstructed by overly bulky undergarments. Please refer to our sizing guide to ensure a comfortable fit across the chest and shoulders.

Caring for your product

To maintain the high-performance membranes and the loft of the synthetic down insulation, this jacket is dry clean only. Attempting to wash this garment in a domestic machine may damage the H2XTREME waterproof shell and cause the insulation to clump, significantly reducing its thermal efficiency.

Professional dry cleaning ensures that the technical fibres are cleaned without the aggressive mechanical action of a drum, preserving both the garment's shape and its protective qualities for the long term.
