Product Overview
The Scruffs Switchback 3 safety boots are a high-specification solution for professionals who require robust protection without the excessive bulk often associated with traditional industrial footwear. These mid-ankle boots are engineered to meet the S3 safety standard, ensuring they provide a comprehensive suite of protective features including water resistance and antistatic properties. By utilising modern materials like aluminium and composite, Scruffs has managed to maintain a substantial, sturdy feel while keeping the weight manageable for long shifts on your feet.
Key Features
Aluminium Toe and Composite Mid-plate: These components provide essential protection against impact and sole penetration while remaining significantly lighter and more flexible than their steel counterparts.
S3 Rated Water-Resistant Upper: The nubuck leather construction offers a reliable barrier against moisture, ensuring your feet stay dry and comfortable in unpredictable work environments.
Poron Insole: This specialised cushioning provides superior underfoot comfort, absorbing shocks and reducing fatigue during extended periods of standing or walking.
Micro-fresh Technology: This integrated treatment actively prevents the growth of mould, which is crucial for maintaining hygiene and reducing odours over the life of the boot.
Anti-static and Slip-Resistant Sole: The outsole is designed to prevent electrostatic build-up and provide secure footing on various surfaces, enhancing overall site safety.
Design & Performance
The Switchback 3 is crafted from high-quality nubuck leather, chosen for its natural durability and professional appearance. The mid-ankle design provides a balance of support and mobility, making it versatile for various physical tasks. A durable moulded toe guard has been integrated to protect the leather from scuffs and abrasions when kneeling, which significantly extends the aesthetic and functional life of the boots. Performance is further bolstered by the EN ISO 20345:2011 certification, proving these boots are fit for rigorous professional use.
Why No Customisation?
At MyWorkwear, we take safety standards seriously. We do not offer customisation, such as embroidery or printing, on these safety boots because any structural alteration or heat application could potentially compromise the integrity of the materials. Furthermore, maintaining the boots exactly as manufactured ensures they remain fully compliant with their EN ISO 20345:2011 safety certifications, providing you with the guaranteed protection you expect.
Use Cases
These boots are ideally suited for tradespeople, warehouse managers, and site supervisors who transition between office environments and active worksites. The combination of water resistance and slip resistance makes them excellent for indoor and outdoor use, particularly in sectors like construction, logistics, and light engineering where S3 protection is a mandatory requirement.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, consider the thickness of the socks you intend to wear. These boots are available in sizes 7 to 12. Given the robust nature of nubuck leather, a brief breaking-in period may be required to achieve the perfect fit. If you find yourself between sizes, we recommend opting for your usual size, as the Poron insole and lacing system allow for a fair degree of adjustment.
Caring for your product
To ensure your boots continue to perform at their peak, it is essential to maintain the nubuck leather upper. Removing mud and debris with a soft brush after each shift prevents the leather from drying out and cracking over time, which would otherwise compromise the water-resistant properties of the S3 rating.
The Micro-fresh technology inside the boot works best when the footwear is allowed to air out naturally. We strongly advise against placing your boots directly on a radiator to dry, as excessive heat can cause the leather to become brittle and may damage the adhesive bonds within the composite sole structure. Simply remove the insoles and allow them to dry at room temperature.
