Product Overview

The LW17 Women's Stretch Tunic is a refined update to a workplace essential, designed to meet the demands of modern professionals in the service and food industries. Combining a contemporary, clean aesthetic with a focus on active comfort, this tunic is manufactured from a lightweight stretch twill that allows for effortless movement. The inclusion of an action back and a streamlined zip front ensures that this garment is as practical as it is professional.

Key Features

  • Lightweight stretch twill fabric provides the necessary flexibility for a high-paced work environment without the weight of traditional heavy-duty materials.

  • The action back design is specifically engineered to offer increased range of motion across the shoulders, preventing the garment from pulling during physical tasks.

  • A modern zip front closure offers a secure and neat finish while being significantly more efficient than traditional button fastenings.

  • The tailored, flattering fit ensures a professional appearance that complements the wearer, maintaining a smart look throughout the working day.

Design & Performance

Performance is built into the fabric of the LW17. It is constructed from Kingsmill Polycotton Stretch, a sophisticated blend of 65% Polyester, 33% Cotton, and 2% Elastane. This composition is chosen for its multi-functional properties: the polyester provides the durability required for industrial environments, the cotton ensures breathability for the wearer, and the elastane delivers the mechanical stretch necessary for a modern, active fit.

The fabric is inherently lightweight, making it an ideal choice for indoor roles where heat management is essential. Despite its lighter feel, the twill construction remains sturdy and resilient, designed to hold its shape and the depth of the Hamilton Blue colour even after extensive wear and repeated laundering.

Customisation: Print & Embroidery

The smooth, consistent finish of the lightweight twill makes this tunic an excellent canvas for customisation. For a truly professional appearance, we recommend embroidery. Our high-quality threads are perfect for company logos or individual names, offering a durable and elevated finish that stands up well to high-temperature washing processes.

For organisations requiring larger or more intricate graphics, our printing services provide a vibrant and sharp alternative. All customisation is managed in-house at our Telford facility. With a heritage dating back to 1976, the MyWorkwear team possesses the technical expertise to ensure your branding is applied with the highest level of precision and care.

Use Cases

This tunic is exceptionally versatile, making it a primary choice for various roles within the Food Industry, including bakers and butchers. Its smart design and freedom of movement also make it perfectly suited for the Hotel, Bar, and Restaurant sectors, as well as general catering environments where staff require a uniform that is both functional and presentable.

Practical Advice

The stretch nature of this tunic allows for a more tailored fit than standard non-stretch alternatives. We suggest selecting your usual size, as the 2% elastane and action back provide sufficient room for movement. For those who prefer a more relaxed fit when layering over heavier base garments, you may wish to consider one size up, though the inherent flexibility of the fabric usually accommodates standard sizing well.

Caring for your product

To ensure your tunic remains in peak condition, it is important to adhere to the specified care instructions. Maintaining fabric integrity is key to a long-lasting uniform. A normal wash process at a maximum temperature of 60°C is recommended to ensure the garment is properly sanitised, which is especially important in catering and food-handling environments.

Do not use bleach on this garment. Bleaching agents will cause the Hamilton Blue colour to fade and can weaken the polyester and elastane fibres, leading to a loss of shape and durability. While the tunic can be tumble dried on a normal setting, drip line drying is the preferred method to maintain the elasticity of the fabric over time.

When ironing, the maximum temperature should not exceed 150°C. Using a hotter iron can damage the synthetic components of the Kingsmill fabric and potentially mar any applied print or embroidery. Finally, please avoid dry cleaning, as the chemicals involved are not compatible with this specific fabric blend.
