Product Overview

The FD90 Occupational PU Wellington is designed for professionals who require a high-performance footwear solution in demanding environments such as catering, food production, and agriculture. Constructed from a specialised polyurethane (PU) compound, these boots utilise an air bubble formula that provides a high degree of flex and durability. This material choice ensures that the boot remains substantial and sturdy while offering a lightweight feel that reduces foot fatigue during long shifts. These Wellingtons are engineered to regulate temperature effectively, keeping your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Key Features

  • Certified cold insulation (CI) down to -17°C, providing essential thermal protection in refrigerated environments or during winter outdoor work.
  • SRC certified slip resistance, ensuring the highest level of traction on both ceramic and steel surfaces to prevent workplace slips and falls.
  • Integrated kick-off lug at the heel, which allows for easy, hands-free removal to avoid transferring dirt or contaminants to your hands.
  • Anti-static construction, which helps to dissipate electrostatic charges, making them suitable for environments where static build-up must be controlled.
  • Specially contoured panelling, which reinforces high-abrasion areas to extend the life of the boot in tough working conditions.

Design & Performance

The performance of this Wellington stems from its mono PU construction. The air bubble formula within the compound doesn't just reduce the overall weight; it creates a thermal barrier and provides a cushioned response with every step. The design focuses on ergonomic comfort, featuring a removable footbed that allows for customisation of fit and improved hygiene. The single density PU outsole is specifically shaped to provide stability on uneven ground while maintaining the flexibility needed for natural movement.

Why No Customisation?

We do not offer customisation on these Wellingtons. This is because the boots are technical pieces of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) certified to EN ISO 20347 standards. Applying heat-transfers or embroidery would compromise the waterproof integrity of the PU material and could invalidate the safety certifications. These are supplied in their original form to ensure they provide the full level of protection for which they were designed.

Use Cases

These Wellingtons are the preferred choice for those working in the food industry, including butchers, bakers, and kitchen staff who need to navigate wet or greasy floors safely. They are equally effective for workers in cold storage facilities or agricultural roles where thermal insulation and a sturdy, easy-to-clean boot are required for daily duties.

Practical Advice

When selecting your size, consider the type of socks you intend to wear. While the PU material provides excellent insulation, a dedicated work sock will help with moisture management and enhance the overall comfort. If you find yourself between sizes, the removable footbed allows for slight adjustments to the internal volume of the boot.

Caring for your product

To ensure your Wellingtons maintain their protective properties and longevity, regular cleaning is essential. After each use, wipe down the exterior with warm soapy water to remove any chemical or organic residues. Allowing dirt to build up and dry on the surface can lead to the material becoming brittle over time.

The removable footbed should be washed at 30°C to maintain hygiene. Do not use higher temperatures or harsh detergents, as this can cause the footbed to shrink or lose its cushioning shape. Avoid using bleach on any part of the boot, as this will degrade the PU compound and compromise the structural integrity of the footwear.

Always allow the boots to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Avoid placing them directly against a heat source, such as a radiator, as rapid drying can cause the material to warp or crack.
