The Hi-Vis Contrast Shorts are an essential addition to any summer workwear wardrobe, providing a balance of high visibility and thermal comfort during warmer months. Designed with a modern knee-length cut, these shorts combine the safety requirements of high-visibility apparel with the practical needs of active tradespeople. The contrasting navy trim is strategically placed to hide dirt in high-contact areas, ensuring a professional appearance remains intact throughout the working day.
Key Features
- Integrated Thigh and Mobile Phone Pockets: Provides secure and accessible storage for essential tools and communication devices, reducing the time spent searching for equipment.
- Half-Elasticated Waistband: Ensures a secure yet flexible fit that accommodates movement, preventing discomfort during repetitive tasks like climbing or kneeling.
- High-Visibility Contrast Design: The Orange and Navy colourway enhances wearer presence in busy environments while managing the visibility of everyday grime.
- Kingsmill Polycotton Fabric: A performance-focused material blend that offers the breathability of cotton with the hard-wearing resilience of polyester.
Design & Performance
Constructed from medium-weight Kingsmill Polycotton, these shorts are engineered for durability. The 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend is fully pre-shrunk, meaning the fit you buy is the fit that stays, even after multiple laundering cycles. The fabric features superior dye retention, ensuring the high-visibility orange remains vibrant and compliant for longer. This technical fabric is designed to withstand the rigours of the modern site while providing the comfort required for long shifts in the sun.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
At MyWorkwear, we understand that a uniform is a mobile advertisement for your business. These shorts are suitable for both print and embroidery customisation, managed by our expert in-house team in Telford. Embroidery is the preferred choice for a highly professional and permanent finish for company logos or staff names. For those requiring larger, more vibrant graphics that need to stand out, our high-quality printing process is an excellent alternative. Having served the industry since 1976, we ensure every logo is applied with precision to maintain the garment's integrity.
Use Cases
These shorts are specifically designed for professionals who require high visibility but need relief from the heat of full-length trousers. They are an ideal choice for construction workers, tree surgeons, electricians, plumbers, and mechanics working in outdoor or unventilated environments. They also serve as a practical uniform for security personnel operating in summer conditions.

Practical Advice
When selecting your size, consider that the half-elasticated waist provides some flexibility, but for those who carry heavy tools in their pockets, a belt may still be beneficial for stability. These shorts are designed to sit at the knee, providing ample protection while allowing maximum airflow.
Caring for your product
To maintain the high-visibility performance and structural integrity of the Kingsmill fabric, we recommend a mild domestic wash at a maximum of 40°C. Using higher temperatures can prematurely degrade the reflective properties and the strength of the polyester-cotton blend.
Bleaching agents must be avoided at all costs. Bleach will chemically strip the high-visibility dyes and weaken the fibres, significantly reducing the life of the garment and its safety effectiveness.
These shorts should be drip line dried only. Do not tumble dry, as the concentrated heat of a drying machine can cause the fabric to warp and damage the technical finishes. Similarly, do not iron the garment, as direct heat can melt the synthetic fibres and damage the high-visibility elements.
Please note that this garment is rated for a maximum of 50 washes. Beyond this point, the high-visibility performance may fall below certified safety standards, and replacement should be considered to ensure continued protection.
