Product Overview
The ES1 Essential Work Shorts are an expertly engineered garment designed to meet the demands of modern industrial and service environments. These shorts combine a clean, contemporary aesthetic with a functional scratch-free design, ensuring that those working in close proximity to sensitive surfaces—such as automotive technicians or furniture installers—can perform their duties without the risk of causing accidental damage. Constructed from Kingsmill Polycotton, these shorts represent a reliable choice for businesses seeking a uniform that balances durability with a professional appearance.
Key Features
- Expandable Waistband: The integrated flexible waist design ensures a more comfortable fit throughout the day, accommodating movement and providing flexibility during physical tasks.
- Scratch-Free Design: By eliminating exposed metal components, these shorts prevent surface marring, making them essential for work around delicate equipment or finishes.
- High-Performance Kingsmill Fabric: This 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton blend offers superior strength and breathability, standing up to the rigours of daily wear.
- Pre-shrunk Material: The fabric has been fully pre-shrunk to ensure that the garment maintains its original shape and fit even after repeated laundering.
- Superior Dye Retention: This technical property ensures the black colour remains deep and consistent, preventing the faded appearance that often plagues lesser-quality workwear.
Design & Performance
Performance in workwear is largely dictated by fabric composition, and the ES1 Essential Work Shorts utilise a lightweight Kingsmill Polycotton blend that excels in high-activity settings. The 65% polyester content provides the structural integrity and abrasion resistance required in heavy-duty environments, while the 35% cotton allows for natural air circulation and moisture management. The result is a pair of shorts that feels substantial yet remains comfortable in warmer conditions. The attention to detail extends to the fit, where the modern silhouette ensures the wearer looks smart without sacrificing the mobility required for active trades.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
At MyWorkwear, we have been perfecting garment customisation since 1976. These shorts are particularly well-suited to both print and embroidery, handled by our expert team in Telford. Embroidery is the superior choice for corporate logos or staff names, providing a durable, high-relief finish that enhances the professional image of your workforce. Alternatively, printing is ideal for larger, bolder branding requirements, offering a clean and vibrant finish. Given the high dye retention of the Kingsmill fabric, your custom branding will remain sharp and professional against the deep black background for the life of the garment.
Use Cases
These shorts are specifically designed for tradespeople and service professionals who operate in environments where surface protection is paramount. They are an excellent choice for mechanics, kitchen installers, and maintenance teams. Their lightweight nature also makes them a staple for outdoor work during the summer months or for staff in climate-controlled warehouses who require a professional alternative to full-length trousers.

Practical Advice
The ES1 features an expandable waistband, which provides a degree of flexibility in sizing. If you find yourself between sizes, this feature typically allows for a more forgiving fit. These shorts pair effectively with a moisture-wicking polo shirt or a lightweight sweatshirt, creating a layered system that is both functional and cohesive for a professional business identity.
Caring for your product
To maintain the performance and professional finish of your work shorts, we recommend a domestic wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C using a mild process. Washing at this temperature ensures hygiene while protecting the integrity of the Polycotton fibres. High temperatures beyond this may cause unnecessary stress on the customisation and fabric.
Do not use bleach, as this will aggressively break down the polyester-cotton fibres and lead to significant colour loss, compromising the professional black finish. We suggest drip line drying to preserve the garment's shape and prevent any heat-related shrinkage that can occur in industrial dryers. If you must use a tumble dryer, do so on a low heat setting.
When ironing, do not exceed a temperature of 150°C. This ensures the fabric remains crisp and free of creases without the risk of scorching. For persistent industrial stains, these shorts can be professionally dry cleaned using Tetrachloroethene under a normal process, which will remove oils and grease without damaging the fabric structure.
