Product Overview
The A689 Cut Level D Protective Sleeve is a technical solution for professionals operating in high-risk environments where the forearm is exposed to mechanical and thermal hazards. Measuring 35cm (14 inches) in length, this sleeve provides focused protection for the wrist and arm, areas often left vulnerable by standard gloves. Its construction prioritises both safety and dexterity, ensuring that protection does not come at the cost of mobility.
Key Features
- Cut Level D Resistance: Designed to withstand significant mechanical force, this rating ensures a high degree of protection against slicing and sharp edges, significantly reducing the risk of workplace lacerations.
- Integrated Heat Resistance: Beyond mechanical protection, the fabric offers resistance against heat, providing a versatile barrier for those working near warm components or surfaces.
- Strategic Thumb Hole: The inclusion of a thumb hole ensures the sleeve remains securely in place during active movement, preventing it from riding up and exposing the wrist.
- Sold Singly: Offering flexibility for those who may only require protection on a single dominant arm, or for easy replacement of individual units.
Design & Performance
This medium-weight sleeve is engineered from a sophisticated blend of HPPE and Glass Fibre, materials renowned for their exceptional strength-to-weight ratios. The inclusion of Polyester and Elastane provides the necessary stretch to ensure a snug, comfortable fit across various arm sizes. Despite its sturdy nature, the fabric remains breathable, which is essential for maintaining comfort during long shifts in demanding conditions.
Why No Customisation?
We do not offer customisation, such as embroidery or heat transfers, on this protective sleeve because any modification to the fabric can compromise its safety certifications. Piercing the material with a needle or applying intense heat for printing could weaken the cut-resistant fibres, potentially leaving the wearer at risk. As a piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), its primary function is safety, and we believe that should never be compromised for branding.
Use Cases
This sleeve is particularly well-suited for carpenters, metal fabricators, and glass handlers who frequently encounter sharp materials. It is also an excellent choice for automotive assembly lines or any environment where the forearm might come into contact with abrasive surfaces or moderate heat sources.

Practical Advice
For comprehensive protection, we recommend pairing this 35cm sleeve with a compatible cut-resistant glove. When choosing your length, ensure the sleeve extends far enough to be tucked under the cuff of your work jacket or shirt to prevent any 'gaps' in your protection. Always check the sleeve for fraying or damage before each use.
Caring for your product
To maintain the performance and hygiene of your protective sleeve, it is important to follow the recommended care routine. Regular laundering is necessary to remove the build-up of dirt and oils, which can otherwise degrade the fibres and reduce the effectiveness of the cut resistance over time.
The sleeve is machine washable, which allows for convenient maintenance. We advise against using harsh chemical bleaches, as these can break down the molecular structure of the HPPE and Glass Fibre, leading to a significant loss of protective integrity. After washing, allow the sleeve to air dry naturally; excessive heat from a tumble dryer can cause the elastane to lose its shape, resulting in a loose fit that could become a snagging hazard.
