Product Overview
The S840 Cotton Bib Apron is a foundational garment for the hospitality and food industries, designed to provide a professional appearance while offering practical protection. Constructed from 100% natural cotton, this apron provides a breathable yet sturdy barrier against the daily rigours of a professional kitchen. Its classic black colour and substantial fabric weight ensure that your staff look uniform and capable, whether they are working in the heat of a kitchen or at the front of a busy cafe.
Key Features
- 100% Kingsmill Cotton fabric offers a natural, breathable feel that ensures comfort during long shifts in demanding environments.
- The fabric is fully pre-shrunk, meaning the garment will maintain its original shape and size wash after wash, preventing the frustration of shrinking.
- Generous dimensions of 72cm x 95cm provide extensive coverage, ensuring your clothes remain protected from kitchen spills and debris.
- Excellent dye retention properties ensure the deep black finish remains sharp and vibrant, even with frequent laundering.
- The use of long staple fibres in the construction process increases the fabric's strength and provides superior resistance to pilling.
Design & Performance
Performance is at the heart of the S840's design. By utilizing Kingsmill Cotton, this apron benefits from long-staple fibres which create a smoother, stronger yarn. This results in a fabric that is not only soft to the touch but also exceptionally durable. The inherent strength of the material means it can withstand the mechanical stress of a commercial environment without thinning or losing its integrity. Furthermore, because the cotton is pre-shrunk, you can trust that the fit you have today will be the same fit you have after twenty washes.
Customisation: Print & Embroidery
This bib apron is an ideal candidate for customisation, allowing you to promote your brand with clarity. For a truly professional and long-lasting finish, embroidery is highly recommended. The dense weave of the cotton fabric provides a stable foundation for intricate logos and individual names, giving your uniform a premium feel. If you require larger, more high-impact graphics, print is an excellent alternative. All customisation is performed by our expert in-house team at our Telford facility, drawing on our heritage in workwear that spans back to 1976.
Use Cases
The S840 is specifically tailored for the catering and food service sectors. It is an essential choice for chefs, bakers, and butchers who require a reliable layer of protection during food preparation. It is equally well-suited for front-of-house staff, including baristas and servers, providing a clean and cohesive look that reinforces your business's professional standards.

Practical Advice
To get the most out of your bib apron, ensure the neck strap is adjusted so the bib provides full coverage for your chest. This is particularly important when working near steam or hot surfaces. Because this is a medium-weight cotton garment, it layers comfortably over chef jackets or polo shirts without adding excessive bulk, allowing for full freedom of movement while you work.
Caring for your product
To maintain the structural integrity and professional look of your apron, it is vital to adhere to the recommended care procedures. Maintaining a clean garment is easy with a domestic or commercial wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C. This temperature is necessary to effectively remove grease and organic matter while preserving the fabric's strength.
You must avoid the use of bleach, as this will degrade the natural cotton fibres and cause significant colour loss. We also recommend that you do not tumble dry this apron. Tumble drying can cause excessive wear and may affect the longevity of your custom branding. Instead, the garment should be air-dried.
If ironing is required to maintain a crisp appearance, use a maximum iron temperature of 150°C. For garments requiring heavy-duty cleaning, professional dry cleaning with tetrachloroethene is permitted. Following these steps ensures your apron continues to represent your business effectively for its full lifespan.
