Product Overview

The FD02 Composite Leather Traction Boot is a high-specification 7-inch safety solution, engineered specifically for the extreme environments often found in the oil and gas industries. Constructed from premium Buffalo Crazy Horse Leather, this boot provides a sophisticated balance of durability and comfort. The full-grain leather upper is naturally resilient, offering protection against the elements while maintaining sufficient breathability for the wearer in both warm and cold climates.

Key Features

  • Buffalo Crazy Horse Leather Upper: This high-grade leather provides a rugged exterior that resists wear and tear while allowing for natural temperature regulation.

  • Oil and Fuel Resistant PU/Rubber Outsole: This ensures the sole remains intact and functional even when exposed to harsh industrial chemicals and hydrocarbons.

  • Superior Slip Resistance: The tread pattern and PU/Rubber composition are designed to provide excellent grip on challenging surfaces, reducing the risk of workplace accidents.

  • Integrated Fastening Zip: Allows for rapid donning and removal, providing convenience for the wearer without compromising the secure fit of a 7-inch boot.

  • Composite Safety Components: Provides essential protection against impact and compression hazards while remaining non-metallic and lighter than traditional alternatives.

Design & Performance

The FD02 is a substantial, sturdy boot designed for heavy-duty performance. Its construction features a PU/Rubber outsole that is rated for heat resistance (HRO) up to 300°C, making it suitable for high-temperature surfaces. Additionally, the boot is equipped with Cold Insulation (CI) properties, ensuring that the wearer’s feet remain warm when working in frigid conditions. The inclusion of Fuel and Oil resistance (FO) further confirms its status as a specialized piece of foot protection for industrial sectors. The ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) rating also makes this boot appropriate for environments where preventing static build-up is critical for safety.

Why No Customisation?

As a critical piece of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), these boots are sold without customisation. Altering the structural integrity of safety footwear through embroidery or heat-pressing can void safety certifications and compromise the protective properties of the materials, such as the Buffalo leather's integrity or the boot’s specialized ESD performance.

Use Cases

These boots are primarily designed for professionals in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. However, their robust construction and specialized ratings also make them an excellent choice for heavy engineering and construction. Interestingly, they are also suited for specialized catering roles—such as those in large-scale butchery or industrial baking—where heat resistance and superior slip protection are paramount.

Practical Advice

Given the sturdy nature of Buffalo Crazy Horse Leather, these boots may require a short period of 'breaking in' to reach maximum comfort. We recommend wearing them with high-quality work socks to provide additional cushioning and to assist with the moisture-wicking properties of the leather lining. Ensure the side zip is fully engaged and the laces are securely fastened to maintain the full 7-inch ankle support required for industrial safety.

Caring for your product

To ensure your boots maintain their protective qualities and longevity, regular maintenance is essential. Neglecting the leather can lead to premature failure and reduced safety performance.

Clean the uppers regularly with a soft brush or damp cloth to remove mud and industrial debris. If dirt is left to dry on the leather, it can draw out natural oils, leading to cracking and a loss of water resistance. Avoid using chemical cleaners that are not specifically designed for leather, as these can damage the finish.

If the boots become wet, allow them to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area. Never place them directly against a heat source like a radiator, as rapid drying will cause the leather to become brittle and shrink, potentially compromising the fit and the bond with the outsole.
