Product Overview
The PW42RER Clip-On Ear Defenders are a precision-engineered solution for hearing protection in industrial environments. Designed specifically for seamless integration with Expertbase helmets, these ear defenders provide a robust barrier against noise without compromising the user's comfort or situational awareness. Their clip-on functionality ensures a secure fit, while the striking red colourway ensures high visibility for safety coordination on site.
Key Features
- Stand-Off Position: This feature allows the user to rotate the defenders away from the ears when in quiet zones or during communication, without the need to remove the helmet entirely.
- Expertbase Compatibility: Specifically designed to interface with Expertbase helmets, ensuring a stable and reliable connection that won't loosen during active movement.
- Easy Clip-On Mechanism: The intuitive attachment system allows for quick installation and removal, making it simple to adapt your head protection to changing work conditions.
- Durable Material Composition: Utilising high-grade industrial plastics and metals, these defenders are built to withstand the rigours of daily use on demanding worksites.
Design & Performance
The structural integrity of the PW42RER is derived from its High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) construction. This material is chosen for its exceptional durability and resistance to the typical knocks and scrapes found in construction and maintenance environments. Despite its sturdy nature, the unit remains a lightweight addition to your headgear, preventing neck fatigue over long shifts.
The internal tension is maintained by stainless steel components, which ensure the ear muffs apply consistent pressure for an effective acoustic seal. This is further enhanced by PVC cushions that provide a soft interface against the skin, ensuring comfort while preventing noise leakage. This combination of materials provides a high-performance hearing protection solution that feels substantial without being cumbersome.
Why No Customisation?
As these ear defenders are critical items of personal protective equipment (PPE), we do not offer customisation or branding on this specific product. Any modification to the surface of the ear muffs, such as drilling, heat-pressing, or the application of certain adhesives, could potentially compromise the structural integrity of the High Impact Polystyrene or interfere with the acoustic attenuation properties. To ensure your safety and compliance with workplace regulations, we provide these as-is.
Use Cases
These ear defenders are an essential requirement for professionals across a variety of high-noise sectors. They are particularly suited for construction workers, electricians, and plumbers working near heavy machinery. Furthermore, their reliable performance makes them ideal for specialised roles in aviation, welding, and tree surgery, where hearing protection must be integrated with head protection at all times.

Practical Advice
When fitting the PW42RER to your Expertbase helmet, ensure that the clips are fully engaged with the helmet slots until you hear a clear click. For the best noise reduction, ensure your hair is pulled back from your ears and that the muffs sit squarely over the ear canal. If you are wearing safety glasses, slim temples are recommended to maintain the integrity of the acoustic seal.
Caring for your product
Maintaining the cleanliness and integrity of your hearing protection is vital for both hygiene and safety. We recommend wiping the PVC ear cushions and the outer shells with a damp cloth and mild soapy water after each use. This prevents the buildup of oils and sweat, which can eventually cause the PVC to harden or crack, reducing the effectiveness of the noise seal.
Regularly inspect the stainless steel arms and the HIPS shells for any signs of stress or damage. If the cushions become permanently compressed or if the shell shows any signs of cracking, the unit should be replaced immediately. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents for cleaning, as these can degrade the plastic components and compromise the protective capabilities of the device.
